Description

Hello!
This is my beautiful early 1991 Range Rover Classic. It is coated in a great looking Ardennes Green, on tan leather interior. It has been my recent daily driver, and so any glitches an older Range Rover may have have been completely sorted out. Admittedly, a few things may be done to better the condition. I will attempt to be completely upfront about any issues that the truck has, and anything that has been done to it.
These are getting increasingly rare. What I offer may not be perfect, but it's a fine start to a perfect daily driver. I, at this point am not someone to restore one. I am unfortunately short on time, and have too many vehicles.
Starting off with the positives:
It is riding on brand new Hankook Dynapro ATMs in 235/75/r16. It is a passenger tire, not LT tire. I would say they have 1000 miles on them or less, I can include the receipt from Discount Tire. Installed on the first snow of the year. Great snow/rain/offroad tire.
It comes with the original owners manual.
Great condition interior, including leather, the wood trim, the steering wheel, plastics, and general condition in total.
The headliner is in great condition.
New interior LED lights, very bright very nice for finding things in the dark.
The exterior is very nice. The paint shines and there aren't any major dents.
The seats work, as do the windows.
The heated front windshield works great, very convenient for ice and fog.
Heated rear window works as well.
Very nice aftermarket audio system with new high end Kenwood head unit that adds AUX, USB, and Bluetooth. Great for longer trips.
New tie rod end links, fresh alignment. Done with new tires. No clunks from the suspension.
Newer brakes, both discs and pads front and rear.
Newer accumulator, pump runs at most 5-10 seconds. Properly bled. Stops on a dime!
New ignition coil, newer cap and wires.
New engine drive belts
New Air Filter
New windshield wipers front and rear.
Rear window looks great without any rust
Engine runs smoothly, transmission shifts smoothly (when full throttle, 1-2 shift is hard)
Transmission fluid has been changed.
Engine does not leak a noticeable amount of oil. Top end is dry, not oil seepage from heads or rocker covers.
Newer radiator, with that a full flush of the cooling system and a new thermostat. 50/50 Green coolant used.
Oil will be changed for new owner, I use Pennzoil 10w30 non-synthetic with flat tappet additive, Mobile 1 filter.
New HID head lights, I did not find that the OEM style sealed beam head lights provided enough light for daily driving.
New oversized battery this fall.
And finally, and my favorite part of the truck: It will go ANYWHERE, this thing has gone into through deep snow with not a problem, has helped people get unstuck, and gets lots of compliments from friends, people on the road, and at the gas station. Interesting conversation starter it seems. It has also gotten me through a few long trips. Down to Indiana from Wisconsin, multiple times to North Chicago, and a couple to Rockford from Wisconsin.
So, the negatives:
The rear wiper stopped working this winter. It has power, but is seized. Unfortunate as I had just put on a new wiper blade.
The rear tail gate doesn't really latch, it just shuts itself. This is due to needing a key for the lock, or a new lock at all.
The sunroof no longer opens, it stopped when it froze this winter. Have not messed with it being afraid to break the plastic guide rails.
The aforementioned problem when full throttle, the transmission will shift.. not roughly, but quite slowly and stops accelerating until it is fully in second gear. I was told it may be to do with the kickdown cable and have not bothered with it. If I wanted to floor it everywhere I would not have bought a RRC.
The rear driver door latch needs adjusting. You need to pull quite hard on the exterior handle for it to open.
The ABS system does not work. I have never looked into it for lack of knowledge.
The temperature sensor failed recently
No spare tire, just a 3 spoke OE wheel. I never bought one as I have AAA.
The wiper washer fluid bottle leaks fluid out, meaning the light is on to tell you it is empty (but you would have known this already when you pour in a bottle of fluid and it instantly pours out, ask me how I know Haha!) Have not exactly looked into this, I personally rarely use windshield wipers besides in the rain..which then I have windshield fluid pouring from the sky!
The exhaust needs work. I had a new muffler installed. The main issue from what I was told is the y-pipe to exhaust manifold gasket is blown. The bank 2 o2 sensor is..AWOL....tip-a Discovery 2 Y-pipe will fit a Classic. It is quite loud.
The power steering high pressure line leaks. A new one is included.
Lastly would be rust. The rear area is quite bad, the tail gate mounts are not in the best shape. The inner wings in the engine bay have seen better days, the passenger compartment is quite solid. The actual frame does not have any bad areas, just surface rust. Feel free to email me for any specific photos. Sold "As-Is", no warranties.
