Description

Please read entire description before bidding. Reserve is low.
This is a rare Land Rover 90. The Precursor to the Defender only made for a few years before the Defender was introduced (uses mostly Defender parts but has Range Rover Classic brakes and possibly axles from the factory). daily driven for a while, driven on weekends for about 5000 miles, with a decent amount of restoration and replacement parts (see below). Very reliable and runs great for being 35 years old.

Work done:$1500 worth of work. Frame stripped of any waxoil, rust removed, patched anywhere that was required, rust inhibitor applied, 4 coats of rustoleum paint. New shackles for rear trailing arms welded to axle housing. Frame was in decent shape for the age to start but had a few spots that needed work. The underbody is in great shape with only a small bad patch under the pedals, however plates were previously installed to cover that issue before I bought the vehicle.
There is the typical rust and two small holes under the window frame hinges where the grey sealing tape is in the photos. Included with this auction are two full replacement steel patch panels I didn’t have time to have installed, as well as new weather stripping for the vents. The windshield also needs a new rubber external seal which should completely seal the bulkhead. I have kept the vehicle covered when not in use.
The bulkhead everywhere else appears to be in good condition as seen in the engine bay photos. The holes under the windshield have been covered since they appeared.
Issues:
The only spots on the frame that could use attention as far as I know are the ends where the bumper is mounted. Replacement slide over pieces are available from rovers north and not expensive.
The battery light has dimly flickered since I got the vehicle 5 years ago. I’m not sure if the sensor is bad or if it needs a new alternator, but I never found it to have charge issues unless it sat for more than a few months.
It needs tires. Brakes are strong and it stops quickly but the calipers are old. The paint could use some attention, or keep the cool patina.
The drivers door sticks a little and could use a new hinge pin.
It smokes a little when it starts after sitting but other than that seems fine, could benefit from a tune up after all these years.
Could use a block heater for easier winter starts

Remember: this is a 35 year old Land Rover. It’s being sold as is. I’m not a mechanic but I know the vehicle well and have had it worked on by certified mechanics.
Your best source for parts are Paddock Spares in England and Rovers North in the states. I bought from Paddocks and they know the vehicle well.
