A beautifully restored Heritage style Defender 90 finished in Land Rover Eastnor green with a Khaki soft top. This stunning Defender has undergone an extensive restoration prior to export from the UK. It now sits on a brand new chassis (frame) which is completely rust free and much lighter. This Defender had a complete panel off respray and interior refurbishment. Complete frame off and engine out restoration. The body was removed from the frame prior to a repaint.
Paying similar homage and styling tribute to the legendary Heritage Edition Defender and to the "HUE 166". It was Land Rovers very first Series I production model, born in 1947 and first registered with the now legendary license plate HUE 166 nicknamed 'Huey'. In Britain it kick-started the Series and now Defender models, which now has made Land Rover become the esteemed company we know and love today. The rest is history as they say. The pictures will show how much time and effort has gone into this stunning tribute and show stopping Defender.
Frame -The D90 sits on a rust free new chassis (frame) and it will stay that way. The frame was blasted and all of the external waxoil was removed prior to a new waxoil undercoating being professionally applied.
Engine & Running gear -Factory 200Tdi engine with only 95k miles. This D90 has a remanufactured Gold Seal engine that has had a complete service including new timing belt, guides, tensioner, along with a coolant and oil flush prior to refilling prior to export. Gearbox and transfer box have been drained, inspected and new manufacturer spec fluids added.
What’s a Gold Seal engine? -Its a term used where a specific engine over hauler (Unipart) takes a production engine and builds it from new in a superior manner with upgraded components but not necessarily a higher state of tune (in terms of power output) - it's a quality piece built to run more smoothly and last longer than a standard engine off the production line and was painted gold. The engine is remanufactured and new parts where possible replaced, new crank, new cam new pistons, all new shells, cam followers and rocker shaft. The block and head are kept. Gold seal engines can be find in Morris Minors and Minis and other BMC cars of that era and was an option on a new car purchase. It's generally accepted that they were built up with a little more care. People who have driven the Unipart engines all seem to agree that they were spot on and driver superbly well. Unipart brands are well known for their rebuilt engines and gearboxes. The good thing about a remanufactured engine is that the casting is stress-relieved in it's first life so is far more stable in it's second life. They are always very well built engines and to all intents as good as new and if not better.
Exterior & Interior-Prior to painting all body panels removed, all underside grime, road film and contaminants cleaned. New doors and tail gate including hinges. New hinges and stainless hardware, new door rubbersand windshieldrubber installed. New galvanized hoop set, new khaki green canvas tilt. All engine components and sound deadening were left in place, all external surfaces were professionally prepped and painted. All dash board components were removed, inspected and thoroughly cleaned before reinstallation. Both front seats have been completely refurbed with new foam and covers from Exmoor trim. There is also a new Exmoor trim central cubby box.
Electrics & Interior -Wiring loom was thoroughly inspected prior to installation of a complete LED light kit. New LED halo headlights and fixing. DRL halos are switched on via rocker switch on right of center “Defender” panel. The white halo flashes amber along with indicators when indicating left or right and hazard warning. New wiper arms and blades. Bluetooth sound system with behind seat speaker pods. New Exmoor trim central cubby box. Two brand new fold up rear bench seats, total capacity is six.
