For Sale is this early build 1988 2 Door, benefiting from the earlier double handed doors and 70s/80s style seats which are becoming increasingly hard to find and desirable.
Mechanically the vehicle is excellent with lots of power, and lots of the bushes underneath have been replaced, the clutch is also very responsive and feels to be new.
Structurally the vehicle is excellent with only the mildest of surface corrosion, I believe the photos speak for themselves.
The Interior is overall in good condition, the driver and passenger seat bolsters have tears otherwise all the seat fabric presents well, with no tears to the vinyl seat pockets or elsewhere. The dashboard and centre console are also in fabulous condition and have no cracking or holes with the exception of three additional dials that have been fitted. Fortunately the the centre console has stood the test of time and is still in complete condition which can rarely be said for these Range Rovers.
Radio is also still present and looks to be original and the vehicle is also fitted with air conditioning, likely essential for buyers in warmer climates.
The vehicle really could benefit from a body restoration. As you’ll notice that although all the panels are fundamentally straight there are scrapes on the rear wings, and some creases on the front ones. Overall it’s showing it’s age cosmetically.
According to the registration papers I believe the vehicle was built in late 1987 however first registered on 8th January 1988 in Barcelona Spain.I think this is likely responsible for why the vehicle is fitted with the earlier style doors and interior, somewhat of a crossover year. However the vehicle also has Balmoral decals above the front wings I’ve tried to do some googling and believe there are certain special editions that were branded Balmoral particularly for the Spanish and French markets.
Although my Spanish is non-existent looking through the ITV technical inspection book that shows the annual statesafety inspection stamps. The station that inspected the vehicle in Barcelona changes for the first time in 2013 and prior to that there is a gap from 2004 till 2013 where the vehicle has been off the road for 9 years. So the first change of ITV inspection station is in 2013 to Aranda de Duero which I presume is a change of owner as this station is almost 600 km from Barcelona. Then if you look at the Carfax in the photo gallery it documents a further change of owner in 2014. Therefore I believe the vehicle has had three previous owners to myself.
Hope this is compressive enough and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
On a separate note if any buyers are put off by the lack of ro-style wheels, I’m certain I have a set lying around in myshed which I’m happy to throw into the deal.
