Don't miss a rare Diesel in excellent condition!It was kept indoors, in original condition unused for decades.
Manufactured by Rover Co.LTD inFebruary 1970at the Solihull Factory, England and shipped to beassembledin Cota Rica where it was recently rediscovered. Being the rare andthoughtafter diesel version it was broughtto the U.S.
Although the body wasabsolutelystraight and the car didn't have any rust or major mechanicalissues, It was restored using all the original components:The aluminium body had gone through a fantasticprofessionaloff framerestorationwithoutcompromisingany of it's originality-As you can see in the photos, all factorydoublesidedwields and old fashioned rivets show exactly as they should.
Original (matching numbers) engine wasrebuilt, so were the gear box and Diesel pump. It starts right away, ready to go on any fun adventure (it can clime on practically anything) or star in any car show.The top is brand new and seals great. It's relies on a period correct conversion frame that adds an extra inch of head room to the driver and front passengers. Side mirrors were upgraded to the '71 model and a new alternator replaced the originaldynamo forfor better practicality.
Most of the car's original detailing were kept for that priceless age authenticity. All doorhandles, diesel fuel cap, knobs and gauges are authentic and original.If a newer look isdesired, those parts areeasilyavailable new at online shops.
This Diesel Land Rover comes as the military version. without doorupholstery, carpets and rear seats. Apart from the cool military look and the reduced weigh, it exposes the near perfect aluminium body in it's full glory.The lucky new owner will find it astonishinglyeasy to convert it to any other version- four rear seats, two fold up benches, fully orpartially covered interior- all would be period correct. The original bodypanelsstill have all thefittingsfromfactoryfor all these versions.Just have fun making it your own or enjoy it in it's current cool and shiny version.
It has been driven a few hundred trouble free and fun miles since the restoration- Making a big noise only an old diesel can and getting a lot of thumbs up and smiles.
