I am selling this as I need to thin out my collection of 16 vehicles.I am selling this one and a few more over the coming weeks.I already have a Mark IV, which I will be keeping.Trades will not be considered, so please do not ask.
This is a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III, the first generation of the new Mark series that started in 1969.1971 was the last year for the high compression heads for the Ford big block 460 engine. This has plenty of horsepower and torque compared to the first couple of years for the Mark IV series. The odometer was replaced and it is believe that the vehicle has approximately 115,000 miles.
This is one of the more rare Mark IIIs, as it is highly-optioned. It has the factory sun roof, which works, along with the rare high back front seats split comfort seats, both with working 6-way power and automatic seat back releases. All windows work, power antenna works, automatic trunk release works.Originally came with an AM radio with a cassette player. That was removed and replaced with an original Ford AM/FM stereo radio. Automatic headlight dimmer option. All lights work.
I have included a picture of the Marti report.
As the last year for the high compression heads, this 460 (7.5L) had 365 horsepower along with 500 pound-feet of torque. It will definitely get you moving and keep you moving down the road. It has the 3-speed C6 automatic transmission. She weighs in at almost 5,000 lbs. Good old solid American iron!
It rides very smooth, just like riding on the gently waves on an ocean.Quiet, great handling, a very luxurious driving vehicle. However, you need to ensure the gas stations are readily available along you drive. It gets about 8 – 10 mpg and only has a 22.5 original gas tank.
A lot of work has been put into it over the last few years. On the Hagerty scale of rating cars, with 1 being concours and 4 being poor condition, this vehicle would be in a solid 2- to 2.In no way is it perfect and if that is what you are expecting, then please do not bid on this vehicle.
