Priced at $20,529 in 1978, the Diamond Jubilee Edition Mark V's were the most luxurious and expensive to date by Lincoln in a production car. According to the production numbers, only 1511 Diamond Jubilees were built with the huge "Astro-Roof" power glass moonroof, which was the most expensive option at an additional $1,027. Of those 1511 built it's anybody's guess how many are still on the road, especially in this condition. Here's a page dedicated to the 1978 "Blue Moondust"Diamond Jubilee:

Recent workincludes fully welded dual exhaust, rebuilt carburetor, brake lines and a new battery. The tires show good tread and hold airbut will need replacement. The a/c has been retrofitted to modern freon. The headlight doors open and close properly and stay closed, even when the car has been parked for awhile. The power windows, power quarter windows, power moonroof and sliding shade work.
Cosmetics: The Lincoln overall presents nicely, the body is very straight and all the panels line up as they should. The dash display, padded dashboard and carpet are in good shape. The front seats are good, the top of the back seat is frayed from the sun and the rear deck material and headliner could use attention or replacement. I can include material I purchased to recover the rear deck and headliner. The padded vinyl half-top was replaced as well as the section on the trunk but not well done; the "CONTINENTAL" lettering was not replaced on the trunk section and some small cracking visible up close at the bottom corners on the roof section. I had planned on redoing both sections and replacing the trunk letters. The paint is original and still shines up nicely. It's better than a "ten-footer", it just needs attention to the clearcoat, mainly on top of the rear passenger fender. The chrome and trim are all in good condition and complete, everything nice and straight.
The engine starts easily even after sitting for weeks andthe garage floor is always dry when I pull the car out.She cruises nicely on the highway, shifts smoothly, four wheel discs stop the car quickly, sheidles evenlyand the suspension is smooth. The Mark V's are unique in that they have the luxurious ride yet still handle well for their size.
I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Lincoln is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well.I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates.
