1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible Suicide Door A/C PW PB PS
Description
Estate Sale, I am selling on behalf of the decedent's family. 66K original mile car purchased in 1998 from family that owned since new, the car has been driven less than 3500 miles in the last 20 years. The car has been kept in climate controlled storage during that time. I have driven it approximately 40 miles in preparation for sale, it runs and drives well considering age. Clear California title, registration is current.
Car in good overall physical condition and is mostly original, it has had the top replaced and vehicle has been repainted sometime prior to 1998. Body straight, interior and trim shows wear consistent with age but not abuse. The paint has some minor chips consistent with age some checking/shrinkage on panel near rear deck lid and very slight bumps in that area and on panel in front of hood (see photos) all noticeable up close but for the most part car looks great at 5 feet. Power convertible top operational (if you know these cars then you understand this is a huge win). All exterior chrome and stainless trim looks bright and shiny with no significant issues.
As with most un-restored vehicles of this age it has items that need to be addressed. I took a little time to inspect the car and this is what I found. Engine smokes from passenger side tailpipe upon acceleration after sitting at idle, I have been told this may be either valve guides or valve stem seals. Has exhaust leak at manifold on passenger side. AC appears complete but will need service at the least. Three of the four power windows work intermittently, one does not work (possibly dirty/corroded switches). Turn signals only functional in one direction. 6" of weatherstripping on convertible top has come loose and will need to be re glued. Belts, hoses and tires should be inspected and replaced if necessary. No spare tire. There are likely more items that may need to be addressed, these are the ones observed while I spent time with the car. Vehicle is offered below market value, please bid accordingly.
Excellent base for a restoration/preservation project or roll it as is after some TLC. If you are not handy with a wrench or have never owned a vintage car please understand vehicles of this nature require appropriate "care and feeding" and will have issues/"gremlins" that will arise over time and need to be addressed (electrical, mechanical vacuum system etc.). Vehicle should be evaluated by a qualified mechanic for safety/roadworthiness before being driven by purchaser.
Serious bidders welcome to inspect in person by appointment only Weekdays between 9a and 3p. Vehicle located in Santa Ana CA warehouse. Joe 714-Nine15-4669
