1968 Lincoln Continental Custom Roadster
This car has had no expense spared, over Two years and Two Hundred Thousand dollars has been put into this nut and bolt one-off build. It was built as an award winning SEMA show car. The “Evil Twin” has been highlighted at the Salt Lake City AutoRama and several shows across the country over the last few years. Old-School meets New-School with this unique Twin Turbo 1968 Lincoln Continental. Out shining the monotonous competition of restored classics; this car has been hand-crafted with both the sleek look of an original and the modern day tech of a high powered sports car. In order to create a clean, sexy look the Builders began by removing the roof, capping the doors and shaving the trim. The windshield was tilted back and the deck lid was raised to give this street rod an aerodynamic flow. Each bumper was molded and modified to sit closer to the body bringing uniformity to an over nineteen foot vehicle. The dash was fabricated 'out of steel, making the Dakota Digital gauges home to a clean and beautiful custom dash. Adding to that a Car Concepts custom Pioneer Sound/Navigation system with hand fabricated JL Audio boxes. This interior brings back the classic look of the diamond tuck with suede and leather to combine both comfort and style with this classic look. Given this car was going to have some serious horse power the car was stripped to the unibody frame was modified with steel channels; reinforcing the frame to handle the power. Underneath the hood, the engine started as a LS3 6.0L and with some modifications to the heads and cam making the engine ready for some power adders. STS performance provided a set of twin turbos to feed the motor and after adding methanol injection and a boost controller this vehicle pushes out well over 700HP. To keep this power plant charged this car is equipped with duel Kinetik HC 3800-Blu batteries and a Schumacher fully automatic onboard charger/maintainer. This car demands attention with its Custom headers and tuned exhaust pipes that emanate a roar like deep thunder for a mildly aggressive sound. Cooling is done with a 4 row polished aluminum radiator and dual electric fans. Transferring that power to the ground through a big 4L80E transmission and into a narrowed Ford 9" rear end with 3.91 gears, Detroit locker, and a set of Mossier axles. An ample set of 315/25/22 tires in the rear with 3 piece 22" Asanti rims on all fours are accented with a set of substantial 13" CPP big disc brakes with .triple chrome calipers to keep this monster on the road. The rear suspension is four linked with 2" DOM steel and stout 1-1/8” hiem joints. The front suspension is also tubular control arms and hiem joints, with the custom Detroit Axel rack and pinion steering to ensure tight steering and handling. The paint looks a mile deep with a lustrous jet black. Both the hood and the trunk are automatically controlled with actuators for hands free operation. The SMART RIDE air ride system is state of the art, controlled by a digital panel from the driver seat or by your smart phone; lifting and lowering the vehicle to its desired height. Dual HID head lights and LED tail lights hidden in the rear add the finishing touches. It has been built and presented at 2012 SEMA Show, featured in 2013 in Generation High Output and placed first place at Salt Lake 2015 AutoRama. This automobile is an absolute must see and stops traffic everywhere it goes and not to be underestimated.
