Professional Newly Rebuilt Ford 460 1973 Lincoln Mark IV
Description
Main photo is prior to engine installation - motor is in the car now. Vehicle sat untouched under car cover since March 2017 after a failed engine break-in proceedure caused by a snapped fuel pump lever at start-up. Piece of lever lodged under timing gear causing timing chain to break. A Ford 460 expert who happens to live near me kindly took a look at the engine -users of the 460ford.com website indicate the man without peer when it comes to this particular model Big Block Ford motor. After installing a new timing chain and cranking the engine, he determined that at least one valve is bent. He noted (and I can provide a link):The cause of the failure was a piece of the failed fuel pump lever finding its way between the timing chain and lower gear. This is a fuel pump failure issue or install issue. It is not in my opinion anything to do with the original engine builder which put together a nice package. As expected at least one valve is bent.
I've completely lost all enthusiasm for the project and refuse to shell out more money on the car, so it's time to recoup a fraction of the investment I've made - low reserve reflects this. Car spent virtually its entire life in the Los Angeles area (I have a Marti Report). I had it transported to Washington state when I moved here October 2016- clear CA title. Shortly, I'll upload scans of receipts I've accruedfor your perusal in addition to more photos. Car is sold as is where is and will require towing (differential is drained). I do not warranty the vehicle or guaranteeits operation. The opinion of the 460 expert who inspected the engine is exactlythat: an opinion. I am offering as transparent and honest an account of its present condition as I'm able. Car drove before rebuild and the untouched stock C6 transmission shifted as it should. Electrics all worked (new gears on window motors) as did headlamp doors when I last drove it. No rust or damage except as pictured. There is bubbling under vinyl top as is common with this car.

I have rocker panel area chrome moldings plus lots of other bits and pieces I'll include too. I have a black hood I removed from another California Mark as the (now discarded) original had severely bent corners - it is detached from the car but I do have the hood hinges and other hardware. New gas tank but this has a fairly significant dent from mishandling during shipping. Spare grill.
