1992 Caterham 7 Supersprint
Description
A rare opportunity to own one of the most exciting drivers cars ever made, it is a genuine factory built Caterham, I have only listed it as an older Lotus as Ebay doesn't recognize the VIN number. It is a 1992 SuperSprint model with the 1.4L Rover K series engines, 16 valve and fuel injection which revs to 7500rpm, rated around 125hp which doesn't sound like much but in a car that weighs about 1200lbs makes for an excellent power to weight ratio. The added benefit of the fuel injection is easy reliable starting and it is a bit quieter to drive, the regular carbs sticking through the hood are pretty loud. The low weight also makes the stopping and cornering ability that is hard to describe, nothing puts you in touch with the road like a Caterham, it definitely feels more nimble than the old iron block Ford engined cars. This particular low mileage car has many desirable options such as the high performance competition stainless exhaust system with side exit, it sounds amazing from idle to redline. It has adjustable brake bias from inside the passenger compartment, Caterham quick ratio steering rack, limited slip differential, 5 speed manual box, rpm shift light, oil pressure warning light, track day roll bar, 4 point harnesses, external battery cutoff and 13" light weight alloy wheels with performance Yokahama tires. The side protection bar is removable with 3 bolts ( I just love the look of it). It does have side screens and tonneau cover for weather protection. The fenders have a carbon fiber look wrap on them which adds to the race car look, the paint shows well but there are chips and dings from 25 years of driving, this is not a show car but will turn heads everywhere you take it. I just replaced the headlights with LED versions which make a huge difference on a night. I have owned several Caterham's and this one is by far the most fun to drive, the quick revving, light weight engine has instant response and with the quick steering and huge grip I can't think of many cars that could keep up with it on a twisty road, every drive is an experience! I have just bought another Caterham and don't have room for both so this one needs a new home, I wish I could keep them both! I do have a clear Ohio title for it, if you have any questions please let me know, thanks for looking! I do have the car listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
