Description

For auction is my caterham super 7. It is one of three cars in my Lotus collection that I will be selling in the near future. This car has a wonderful and extremely well documented history. I included the original bill of sale from caterham cars from 1989. The car was sold as a kit and was Cosworth BDR ready. It was sold to one of, if not the most well-known and knowledgeable Caterham builders in the USA, Chris Tchorznicki of Sevens and Elans in Cambridge, MA. It is my understanding that Sevens and Elans are still in business but are now in Florida. This kit was built with a Cosworth engine and the owner street drove the car in the Michigan summers. The car was built with full street equipment – and all of this included in the sale. It has a tall street windscreen, stock factory dash and gauges and steering wheel, stock exhaust, an extra set of compomotive race wheels with tires, stock roll bar, stock weather gear, cycle fenders and well as clam fenders and more. All of the stock street gear is in my storage unit across town but is included in the sale to the winning bidder. I have boxes of files of extremely detailed records in stacks of manila folders with EVERY detail one could imagine in this build and subsequent modification as a track day car. I stopped adding up invoices on upgrades and modifications at 80k. I “stalked” this car for about three years. It was, and still is everything I wanted in a street legal car that was essentially a reliable, durable, race car that was street legal.Indeed the car is fully street legal and has a free and clear Florida title in my name ready to transfer to the new owner.

The original owner of the car soon came to realize that Cosworth engine maintenance and durability was something that he wasn’t willing to deal with and therefore sold the engine to a racer in California then had a modified Ford Zetec engine from the famous British tuning house Raceline installed. I have all of their correspondences, receipts emails etc in my huge box of files on the car. I’ve been a car and bike hobbyist for over forty years and I have never seen the documentation details of any vehicle build as in this car. Literally any question you may have about the car can be found in the documentation that will be provided to the new owner. To top that off, the original owner and I maintain contact and he answers texts/emails about the car literally within an hour or at the latest, the same day. He is a very helpful and enthusiastic “car guy”.

I am selling this along with others from my Lotus collection as I am retiring and moving to a smaller place with minimal garage space. My collection of Lotus and Porsche cars is being downsized for this change in life. I have trailered the car twice to my smaller home in the Western NC Mountains and had a blast on those tight curvy roads. This car is an amazing performance car yet is extremely docile and super reliable. Replacement cost to build this car now would be perhaps close to three to four times what I have set my reserve price. Feel free to email me with questions and I will do my best to be prompt and be forthcoming and transparent as I always am on ebay.Check my feedback and time on ebay and bid with confidence that this car is represented honestly. Thanks for your time and interest.

The car is Florida titled a 1972 Lotus. Obviously built after purchase in 1989.
