Description

This is a 1974 Lotus Europa special with 49000 miles on the odometer that underwent a recent refurbishment. Power is provided by the 1558 c.c. big valve twin cam engine and 4 speed transaxle. The body was removed from the chassis, surface rust on the chassis removed, and then treated with POR-15. Water pump and alternator belts or replaced and fuel tanks taken down to bare metal and treated with POR-15. Original pot metal fuel fillers replaced by machined aluminum units. The body is free of surface cracks and finished in thelegendary Gold Leaf Team Lotus Formula One colors as raced by Jim Clark and Graham Hill which gets rave reviews whenever shown. The motor has excellent compression and is fed by the standard twin Stromberg carbs. A new muffler and heater valve are fitted. Plugs, plug wires and coil are new as is voltage reg. Being a British car there will be oil drips on the garage floor. Brake boosters are present but bypassed as is typical for these cars. It has a new master cylinder and cross-drilled and slotted front rotors with excellent braking. Gearbox shifts well with oil changed and new differential axle seals.
All instruments and electronics work except dash light for the handbrake is inoperable. Radiator fan Thermo switch is hit-or-miss so has been supplemented with an in cockpit manual override
Electric windows work fine and glass is in good shape except for some light scratches on the rear window.
Doors hang straight with no sag. Hinges are in excellent shape. Doors can be locked with the key from the outside, but interior locks are not functioning.
Of note is the front end has been lowered with fabricated steel brackets with hundreds of miles of use, but they can easily be removed in the car return to its original setup if preferred.
The car did come with a front spoiler that has some superficial but easily repaired damage but was thought to detract from the body lines so it's not currently mounted.
Side mirrors replaced with larger units for better rearward visibility.. Car is a blast to drive, but if you have very wide feet you will have problems with the pedals. Car is located South of Philadelphia. If you want to see it in action, go on YouTube and search "Lotus Europa Up Close"Iy
