1984 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE
Description
THIS CAR IS TYPICAL OF MANY OF THE QPs THAT ARE LEFT. ITS A ONE OWNER CAR. I 'VE KNOWN THE ORIGINAL OWNER PERSONALLY FOR OVER 20 YEARS. HE BOUGHT IT NEW AT THE 1984 BOSTON INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW AS IT WAS THE DISPLAY CAR THAT YEAR. IT HAS SAT IN HIS GARAGE FOR OVER 20 YEARS. IT IS A RESTORATION PROJECT FOR SURE AND NOT A RUNNING DRIVEABLE VEHICLE. I REBUILT THE CARBS AND MANAGED TO START IT. THAT WAS 2 YEARS AGO. THE MOTOR WILL NEED TO BE REBUILT. ITS A SOLID ENOUGH PROJECT TO START WITH AS IT HAS GOOD FLOORS AND THE MAJOR BODY PANELS ARE GOOD. THERES SOME RUST IN THE DOORS THAT WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY REMOVING ALL OF THE INSULATION THAT'S IN THERE. THERE IS SOME DAMAGE AROUND THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL OPENING OF THE FENDER THAT WILL NEED SOME WORK. THERES SOME RUST ON THE HOOD STARTING AROUND THE VENTING NEAR THE WINDSHIELD THAT WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. THE CAR WILL ALSO NEED A WINDSHIELD WHICH IN THE PAST WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND BUT THANKS TO THE WEB I'VE FOUND A COUPLE. THEY'RE EXPENSIVE BUT YOU CAN FIND THEM. ALL THE OTHER GLASS IS GOOD. INTERIOR IS IN NICE SHAPE--NO CRACKED LEATHER OR FRAYING SEAMS. I HAVE AMASSED A BUNCH OF NEW AND USED PARTS INCLUDING A NEW PISTON AND RING SET, EXTRA CRANKSHAFT, OIL PAN, BUMPERS, TAILIGHTS, ELECTRICAL, SHOP MANUALS AND A BUNCH OF OTHER USED PARTS THAT WILL GO WITH THE CAR. I REALLY DON'T HAVE INDOOR STORAGE FOR IT BUT IF I HAD A GOOD WORKING SPACE THIS WOULD BE AN INTERESTING PROJECT TO DO UP AS ITS BASICALLY UNMOLESTED. CLEAR ONE OWNER MASSACHUSETTS TITLE IN THE ORIGINAL OWNERS NAME----YOU CAN EVEN CALL HIM IF YOU WANT TO.! BTW, I KEEP THE FRONT END OF THE CAR OFF OF THE GROUND SOMEWHAT JUST TO KEEP PRESSURE OFF OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE CAR DOES A LOT OF SITTING AS YOU CAN IMAGINE. THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ARE IN THE CAR. THE PHOTO LOOKS MISLEADING.
TAKE THIS TO A CAR SHOW AND NOBODY WILL HAVE ONE THERE. IT WOULD BE A GREAT PARTS CAR BUT THESE THINGS ARE SO FREAKIN RARE THAT IT WOULD BE ASHAME TO BREAK UP A CAR LIKE THIS---I WOULD PREFER THAT IT GO TO SOMEONE WHO WOULD PUT IT ON THE ROAD AGAIN. FROM WHAT I'VE LEARNED ABOUT THESE CARS IS THAT THEY APPEAR MUCH SCARIER THAN THEY ACTUALLY ARE TO WORK ON--RELATIVELY PRIMITIVE BY NEW CAR STANDARDS. I GUESS THE 8 BARREL CARB SETUP AND THREE FUSE BOXES SCARE EVERYONE.
MY WIFE ACTUALLY LIKES THIS BETTER THAN MY 1971 PONTIAC LEMANS SPORT CONVERTIBLE THAT IS RESTORED----AND SHE'S NEVER EVEN RIDDEN IN THIS THING!!. I'VE SECURED DRY WINTER STORAGE FOR IT FOR THIS COMING WINTER SO IF NOBODY SCOOPS IT UP I WILL HOLD ON TO IT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN WHEN I CAN....I WILL TRY TO ASSIST WITH PICK UP....BUT YOU'LL NEED AN AUTO TRANSPORT. C.O.D. OF COURSE NO PAYPAL...THANKS FOR LOOKING..
