1967 Maserati Mistral Coupe
Description
1967 Maserati Mistral Alloy Coupe.
Designed by Frua and constructed by Maggiora, the Mistral made its debut at the 1963 Turin Auto Show to great press and praise. With its introduction, these cars were the last Maserati’s cars that were produced under the direction of the "Casa de Trident" (The House of the Trident) that carried the twin spark inline 6- cylinder motors. These engines had risen to fame and fanfare through the 1950’s into the 1960’s with Maserati’s racing efforts and also their civilian motorcar offering. This car is fitted with the 4.0 litre displacement variant of these engines. Interestingly, the Mistral also carried the distinction of being Maserati's first naming nomenclature that was derived from the name of a wind. This has continued on through several models over the years including the Bora, Merak, and Ghibli to name a few.The motorcaroffered here is a solid and unmolested example of the great vintage Maserati's of the 1960's. Thiscoupe was one of the all aluminum examples produced. While the cars were constructed in both, steel and aluminum bodies, the alloy cars are considerably more desirable. The car was originally fitted with mechanical fuel injection, sourced from Lucas in the UK. Power was feed to the rear wheels via a 5 speed ZF gearbox. Over the years, this car has been converted to a dual Weber Carburetors set up, but the fuel injection system is present and will be included with the car. Also included with the car are the components for a factory A/C system. The original Borrani wire wheels with the correct modern day Pirelli tires remain fitted. The car presents as a survivor with an older repaint. The paint on the car is showing age with some cracking around the front hood and rear glass lift gate. The chrome trim on the car is in good condition, with some minor blemishes. The interior remains unmolested and presents well. The seats were correctly recovered with new Black Leather at some point in the past. The remaining interior components, such as the dash and interior panel, door cards, etc. are in good shape. Overall, the car runs well and presents as a usable driver quality car. If the next owner wishes to take it to the next level, this car would be a solid foundation to start from.
