Description

<Please note that the bidder who has a feedback score of less than 10 or a positive feedback of less than 90% should not place a bid for this auction. I will have right to reject these bidders.>
You are bidding on an original 1991 Mazda Miata SE (Special Edition) Dark Green (British Racing Green), equipped with power steering, power brake, ABS, and air-conditioning.
The mileage is at 67K, which is very low for a 1st generation Miata.Originally, this car was equipped with a NARDI shift knob, but the rubber part of the Nardi shift knob melted down - therefore, I replaced it with a Miata shift knob (from the NB Miata, the 2nd generation). The handle of emergency brake is still wooden. (I can give you the Nardi knob if you would like, but there is no rubber attached to it.)
It also comes with a color-matched genuine hardtop. (I will also attach a "Hardtop Hoist", which is approximately $100.)
I uploaded the photos of the Miata to a Google site. My apologies, but eBay does not allow me to post links in the description. Alternatively, you can change the following link's initial "123" portion to "www" to access the photos.123.sites.google.com/view/91miata/%E3%83%9B%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A0
I can tell you that the Miata is one of the best "fun" cars. There's not much power on this car, but it is very lightweight (less than 1 ton or 2200 lbs). As soon as you steer, the car responds immediately. Though the car does not have much power, you can weave through traffic if you wanted to. (But not like a highway cruiser. :-) ) The fuel economy is always over 25MPG, even if you rev up often - thanks to the weight of the car.
When I purchased this Miata from Philadelphia at 2010, the mileage was approximately 59K, and I put approximately 7K in addition to that in these 7 years.
Since then, I replaced all the tires, the clutch, the timing belt (inside the engine), all the belts, the thermostat, the battery, and retrofitted for air conditioner. I also installed a HARDDOG roll bar for safety purposes.
This Miata is equipped with a tan-color tonneau cover that was a very rare option for the 1st generation Miata at the time. (However, since I installed the roll bar, it will need to have some modification on the tonneau cover to use it. Alternatively, you can remove the roll bar.)
For the exterior, there are locations that are fading in color on the body along with some small dents. I assume there was a small accident that damaged the front right fender because of the color painted over the VIN# sticker. (There is a little scratch at the lower corner of right fender in front of wheel, as shown in picture.) The wheels are original and have no major blemishes. The former owner replaced the soft-top with a glass rear window (which is better than vinyl one).
For the chassis, I CANNOT say that there is no rust. It might have some rust on the chassis, but it should be nothing major. I did not drive this car when snow and salt covered the road, as it would rust the chassis.
For the interior, I replaced the center console panel because it was cracked and broken. The top of the dashboard is starting to fade. The car audio system is original, but the CD player does not work properly. MY91 Miata did not have a trunk opener, so I modified it to add the trunk opener from the original of MY92 (or MY93?) Miata. It works fine. The leather seats are in normal wear & tear condition (as seen in the photos) - no rips.
For the mechanics - no issues. The engine starts easily, and there are no problems changing the gear. It runs straight. There are no problem turning right and left.
Please ask me if you have any questions or need anymore photos. I will try to answer as much as possible and take pictures for your need.
At last, in New Jersey, cars under model year 1995 should not need to go under state inspections any more. I have the certification for this (see the photo). This will be good for collectors and/or historic car lovers in NJ.
Also, if you would like to inspect the car, it is available in Leonia, NJ. Please contact me to inspect this Miata. I will try to let you inspect this car, but it should be preferably on weekends (Saturday or Sunday).
The winner must send a $500 non-refundable deposit via Paypal within 72 days after the auction is closed. (This is an important process to find out for me who you are and for you who I am. I will send an invoice to you via Paypal, and you should pay the deposit via Paypal.) Then, the winner pays a certified check, cashier's check, or cash when you pick up the car.
Picking up the car by yourself will be the best, but I will cooperate if you would like to use a trucking company.
Thank you for looking at my auction, and enjoy the bid.
