1988 MAZDA GTX SUPERCAR
This car was one of six first purchased by Patrick Motors of Dublin, Ohio. It was one of six cars selected to be factory Group A rally cars with full roll cage and the finest racing modifications. As a turbocharged, AWD, with factory engine management, the car was ideal for rallies. The Group A rally class was short lived and the car was turned into a Land Speed Record car and held speed records for over 20 years. It went 177 mph when tuned to 450 hp!!! The car has only 9k original miles. Some minor rust and corrosion from salt flats and the rollbar makes the rear seat a package shelf.
The huge turbo used for the salt flats took forever to build boost so the car was not very driveable on the street. Now has a quick revving 944 turbo, programmable boost, and fuel system, water injection, AWD, fire system, and autometer liquid filled gauges with telltale tach. With reduced timing and boost (25 down to 15 lbs) the engine is about 300 hp for reliability. It will turn up to 8500 rpm. Street legal, starts and runs well.
Second race engine (disassembled), two heads one high perf, one stock, extra set of race wheels, high performance brake pads, Also includes Kirkey racing seat, new tires, double instrumentation, 5 point driver belts, right side passenger seat (currently not installed),and scatter shield for the flywheel/clutch.
Engine modifications include, knife edge billet steel crank, I-beam forged rods, new piston and rings with Swain Tech performance PC-9 coating, adjustable intake and exhaust cams, high flow exhaust system, Quartermaster clutch, and Cometics multilayer racing head gasket, and spares.
Reliable fun car with spares, Dr. Jekyll becomes Mr. Hyde on boost. Great rainy day track roadrace car.
WRX-STI performance at a fraction of the price.
