Description

For those seeking a low mileage and virtually perfect Miata with turbocharging and adjustable suspension that is fully sorted, this may be your car! This car drives and handles wonderfully and can satisfy the owner for what it is, or can serve as a good basis to upgrade for higher performance intents. I'm the third owner and purchased the car in 2003 with 10,000 miles. Since I've owned it, this car has not been tracked or auto-crossed. It has been street driven from May-Oct. only and is garaged and covered when not. There is absolutely no body rust, the underbody is undercoated and it has never seen salt. Every nut and bolt is free which makes is a pleasure to work on mechanically. The following is a list of features that describes the car along with the collection of photos: the engine has a Bell Engineering turbo kit with Aerodyne variable vane turbocharger (recently overhauled by Turbo Doc) and intercooler developing 7.5psi boost. Spark is controlled by an MSD ignition boost retard module. Fuel is controlled by a Flying Miata Voodoo Box calibration module. The engine was road calibrated with a wide band oxygen sensor and data acquisition system. The exhaust is custom made 2.25" diameter with cat and Racing Beat SS muffler. Additionally installed is a Banks Engineering water/methanol injection system that can be switched on or off by the driver. With this on, boost is increased to 9.5 psi, spark retard is disabled as the water/meth injection kicks in. Power and response increase significantly! It uses "boost juice" which is 50/50 water/meth mixture easily purchased from Summit Racing. Otherwise, you must use 93 octane premium. Further improving the response is a Fidenza aluminum flywheel holding an ACT heavy duty pressure plate and new stock clutch disk. 1st and 2nd gear acceleration is quick and downshift matching a delight. It uses the stock Miata viscous limited slip and I've has no issues. The transmission shifts great and uses Redline MT90 synthetic gear oil. Brakes are stock but feature braded SS brake lines, cross drilled front rotors and recently new Hawk HPS brake pads front and rear. The suspension features Koni adjustable sport shocks, Eibach springs on FatCat adjustable spring perches. FatCat shock mounts in the front along with an adjustable front anti-roll bar and Suspension Techniques adjustable rear bar. Wheels are Fittapaldi (by OZ) 7" x 16", which are easy to keep clean, mounted with Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires with plenty of tread. Body-wise, the car is original red paint in super excellent condition with no stone chips or dings visible. Add-ons include the rear wheel spats and rear spoile, and the unique driver side NACA duct headlight cover, all color matched, which were on the car when I purchased it in 2003. I added the Garage Vary front spoiler which I color matched and is newly repainted. Further added were the Hard Dog twin hoop roll bar and Flying Miata underbody braces. There is a boost gage on the A-pillar and the Banks controller mounted on the steering column. The interior condition is very good including the seats and carpets. The carpet shelf has two holes where a prior roll bar was mounted (see photo). The stock steering wheel is replaced with a Momo Corsa wheel and I have the stock wheel with airbag. The stereo system is an Alpine am/fm with cassette with graphic equalizer and trunk mounted Pioneer amp and aftermarket speakers. There is an aftermarket car alarm installed which I do not use but instead use an battery cutout switch in the trunk. This car is reliable, super fun to drive with excellent drivability, and while it may ride slightly firmer than stock, it is not jarring and is a good compromise for the improved handling performance. It has manual steering and A/C which works, even though I seldom use it, because the top is always down. Top condition and rear window is excellent and I keep a tonneau cover over this when it's down. As an engineer, I put in many hours to assure that this Miata was carefully sorted and developed. The point I'm making is this was not thrown together by some amateur. Included are all manuals, receipts, service record, installation instructions, technical information, etc. Also includes car cover, stock driver side headlight cover, stock steering wheel with airbag and some other miscellaneous parts. I've done my best to accurately represent the car here and with the photos you see. Please contact me with any questions.
