I'm the original owner of this 1979 Mazda Rx-7 GS rotary engine sports car (purchased in North Carolina). This is the first year of the Mazda Rx-7. This Rx-7 GS model comes with aluminum alloy wheels rather than the stock steel wheels of the Rx-7 S model, body side moldings, and a five-speed manual transmission. With its "front mid-engine" design, the 1979 Rx-7 has a 50/50 front-to-rear weight balance for great handling. The spare is a real aluminum alloy wheel with a mounted tire. I parked the car in my driveway after it was registered and driveable in June of 2011 and I have not driven it since that time. Please note that I was unable to start the car at least five years ago and I just left it parked in my driveway. The summer sun has done damage to the dashboard and rearview mirror, but the body is very good. There is not a dent on it. The engine was rebuilt twice so its parts are newer than the rest of the car. Factory air conditioning is installed. I put "fair" as the condition, but THIS CAR IS CURRENTLY NOT RUNNING AND MUST BE TOWED. THE FIRST PHOTO IS ABOUT ELEVEN YEARS OLD when I took the car to a classic car show.
I have the original "Model '79 Owner's Manual" that came with the car when I bought it new. With some work, this car will run again or it can be used as a great source of parts. Only one of the five tires is flat. It does not start and has been sitting in my driveway for eight (8) years. I have added several current photos. Three show the engine compartment. The last two are interior shots that show the cloth seats and the carpeting with the custom floor mats. I vacuumed the carpeting and floor mats after these shots were taken and they look even better now. The original seats had black vinyl sides and a cloth middle. They were uncomfortable and eventually deteriorated. The current seats are all cloth Rx-7 seats and are much more comfortable.
