Description

WOW - What a nice looking car! I have up for bid a beautiful 1991 Mercedes E class coupe. Super Rare Black on Black with low miles and super clean Carfax! No accidents. No stories. Cosmetically, this car is in above average condition. I challenge you to find a better looking vehicle for this price range!
THE GOOD:
No matter what I sell this for, it will be a huge financial loss to me. The whole top end of the engine has been rebuilt. Head Gasket went bad, my Mercedes Mechanic did the head gasket and had it properly machined from a reputable machine shop in the area that builds race cars. They did the valve seals and re-machined all the heads as well. We used all OEM parts during the rebuild and even replaced a bunch of oil gaskets along the way. I probably spent $5,000 in to it this year. I have 1 pic below of the engine block out of the car after it was re-machined and before it went back in. All of this work has been done in the last 6 months:
  • Top end engine rebuild / New head gasket / New valve seals / Re-machined head and block
  • New radiator. New hoses
  • Many new gaskets
  • All new motor/transmission mounts. No vibration in the car.
  • Both new Fuel Pumps, Bosch brand (OEM)
  • New antenna seal, and new front grille, new upgraded OEM Euro Tail lights
  • All new OEM brake pads and rotors all around and brake lines bled. Brakes feel like brand new with full pressure and stop confidently.
  • New Water Pump and Thermostat. (Water pump went bad and this was the cause of the engine to overheat and cause the head gasket to go bad.)
  • New Oil Pressure Switch
  • New idle control module (OEM)
  • New Fuel Injection control module (OEM)
  • New Fuel Pressure Regulator (OEM)
  • New Fuel Accumulator (OEM)
  • New Coolant Temp sensor and fan switch
  • New H&R sport springs 1.5in lowering
  • 4 new tires and 4 AMG wheels just custom refinished

THE BAD:
This was a no expense spared project for me.
  • There is a freon leak in the AC system somewhere. I just discovered it and am not interested in taking the time in getting it fixed. I'm ready to move on to the next project car. If you fill up freon it will last for a week or 2 and then be gone. AC blows nice and cold until the freon leaks out. I could have just filled it up on the day I sell you the car and let you find this out a week or 2 later but I'm not that kind of guy.
  • Stereo Speakers sometimes crackle. Radio Antenna gets stuck and stays down most of the time. (On a side note, if these 2 things bother you, you are probably not the right person to be buying a 1991)
This is cosmetically a great condition car with no paint work. All original. Interior is like brand new. Amazing how well the leather looks for its age. Better than my 2007 BMW leather. The car is a NON smoker and always garage kept. You can tell when you see it. NO RUST anywhere.
Please keep in mind you are buying a 1991 and don't expect to find a brand new show car. Everyone's perception is different. I am picky and I think this car is in great condition. You may or may not agree. I am disclosing the 2 minor issues I know of above. I do not need the money and this is not a desperation sale. The car can continue to sit around for all I care. Please, if you are going to try to look for every imperfection and scratch and then wheel and deal, save yourself the trouble and don't buy my car.
I don't drive this car often, but in prep for selling, I daily drove it 100 miles in the last 2 days and there are no other issues I found.
