Description

Here up for bids is this hard to find W124 coupe. This has been an Oregon car from new and is in outstanding condition. It features all original paint, an interior that's like new, and all books and records. The car runs and drives beautifully and has been well maintained. 40 pictures follow, look for my text descriptions along the way.

Not only is this a rare model (one of just 2,318 produced for '89), this color combination is pretty rare too: Light Ivory over Sahara Sand. The paint is 100% original and still looking great. There's a small scuff on the air dam in the picture below, and a few minor dings here and there. The overall appearance is very strong.

Both bumper inserts are in terrific condition with no damage.

The center insert on the front bumper has been replaced with a Euro-spec piece, replacing the "fanged" US version. The original piece is included, it swaps out easily with 4 screws.

I've also replaced the headlights with Euro versions, they offer better road illumination, give the car a more streamlined look, and feature the low wattage mode shown in this photo, a great look at dawn or dusk. If the buyer prefers I can swap these out for the original US versions which I kept, still in very good original condition. The choice is yours.

High quality Goodyear tires with excellent tread.

All of the glass is original, including the windshield, all of it perfect.

Clean trunk with an unused spare and the factory toolkit that has never been removed from its sealed plastic pouch.

The car comes with a complete VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) record, as well as service receipts. Included but not shown are the owner's manuals and valet key. Recent work includes a new alternator, belt tensioner, AC charge and transmission service.

Very clean everywhere you look.

The interior is like new, just very well preserved.

With the exception of the passenger side seatbelt "presenter", ALL accesories and controls are operating correctly. These include the power windows, vacuum locking system, rear headrest control, heated mirrors, vanity lights in the visors, etc, etc.

Perfect dash with no cracks, splits, or warping.

Headliner is perfect from front to back. Sunroof has been lubricated and operates swiftly and smoothly, including the tilt function.

Back seat has seen little use. Factory first aid kit on parcel shelf is unused.

Both power seats work correctly, power windows move smoothly.

All gauges work correctly and show good consistent readings. Clock keeps the right time.

Nice wood. Ashtrays are unused, the car has not been smoked in.

The climate control system works correctly, including the stepped fan feature in auto mode. AC blows cold and heater blows hot. Original Becker radio has excellent sound and the power antenna works in tandem with it.

The cars runs and drives great, and brings a surprising amount of power from the 3.0L M103.983 inline six. Handling and steering response is spot on, it has excellent brakes, shifts smoothly and basically performs like you would expect from a car with a $54K MSRP in 1989.
