Time has come to retire Big Maybelle to a new home, preferably one with a mechanic in it.
Big, beautiful and classic she has been our daily driver for the past few years and though her true mileage is unknown, we estimate it to be at just around 150,000 which ain't bad considering she's a Mercedes.
Yet the dear old lady has developed something of a problem lately, stalling out at random. Kinda like when Grandma goes off to Schnuck's and then forgets what she's doing there for a minute. She always starts right up again if you let her rest for a couple minutes, and tends to be more cooperative if you warm her up first, but still it'sa problem.
Here's what we know it isn't:
The battery (new)
fuses and all vacuum hoses (also new)
distributor condensation (replaced the cap)
Replaced the fuel filter
Might be the fuel pump, might be something electrical like a relay, we just dunno...Most parts are original, even the medical kit!
She also has new brakes and rotors, good tires and all chrome and glass is good. She could use a little paint, but what old lady doesn't look better with a little paint? Also, like her current owners, she comes pre-wrinkled, due to an unfortunate encounter with some whippersnapper's rubber truck bumper on the rear passenger side, and she's a teeny bit incontinent from a minor fuel leak, but we prefer not to talk about that.
Compression is great, performance was great when parked. we hate to part with her and will not part her out. But if you're somebody who can appreciate a great car and has the time and patience to deal with a senior citizen? You won't be sorry. Perfect candidate for restoration.

Update: as of this morning, she was cranky about starting.
