For sale is my 1967 Mercedes Benz 230 (W110). Finished in Horizon Blue with Black MB-Tech interior, this car looks amazing and elegant.
This is the second generation of the W110 model, known also as “Fintail” in America and “Heckflosse” in Europe.
Although more than 620,000 vehicles where built between the first and second generations (1961-68), only about 40,000 were the 230 6 cylinder cars. Being the most powerful version, these are the most desirable W110’s also.
I’m the third owner of this car. The second owner bought it from his neighbor, who purchased it from the Mercedes Dealer, as a second car. He used to drive a pickup for work all week and the Mercedes only on special occasions. It was parked in 1983 in a barn since the owner wasn’t able to drive a stick shift any more. Because of that, Mileage I believe is correct, but being a 5-digit odometer I can swear for that. All it’s live was in Georgia and the last year in Florida where I brought it back to life.
This particular Fintail is very sought after due to its huge Sunroof and the manual transmission. Great car for vintage rallies due to its performance and reliability. Other than that, these cars were very basic; having manual windows, radio delete option and no A/C. Car comes with its original manuals.
The W110 is a 4-door sedan, 3-volume body, with no rust at all and showing no accidents. Car has been repainted recently to its original color and looks very well but it is not a concourse paintjob. All the chrome is there and in great condition as well as all original glass.
Interior is in very good condition. Seat covers are original to the car as well as the door panels and have no damage or wear. Carpet is brand new. All accessories such as window cranks are there and original. Dash has a little crack near the instrument cluster due to age and exposure to sun, but a custom suede dash cover is included.
This is a matching numbers car. Engine is the original 2.3Liter M180 In line 6 cylinder with twin Zenith carburetors, recently repaired, producing 120 horsepower at 5400 rpm. Top speed is 109mph, acceleration 0 to 60 mph just under 13 seconds.
Transmission is a 4-speed manual on the floor, shifting smoothly thanks to new bushings and new clutch cylinder.
Brakes are discs in the front and drums in the rear. All calipers, pads, hoses, wheel cylinders are new as well as the brake master cylinder.
Steering has new tie rods and has been professionally aligned.
Brand-new 185/70-13 Toyo tires all around, and even a brand new spare tire is included (not matching).
Car is very enjoyable and drives like a champ. It gets more looks than Ferraris or Lamborghinis. It is also great for the soul, having everybody smile at you when driving this piece of automotive history.
Special interest for these beautiful Fintails has brought an increase in value of about 30% just in the last year! (see Hagerty.com). This is much better than gold or stock!
