1970 Mercedes 250c Coupe for restoration. I purchased this car several years ago with the intention of using itfor a father son restoration project. At this point it looks like that is not going to happen, so I would like to free up some garage space. The car runs and drives, but will need somerestoration work before it is ready for the road. I am listing any faults I am aware of: There is some localized rust to at least the footwells, passenger side front fender (behind headlight) andrear quarter lights. The body, (including the sills) appear sound. However, I do not think it has had any welding or repairs done since it left the factory, there may be additional rot underneath the factory sound proofing etc that I cannot see. It appears the car was re-sprayed some time ago, probably at least 20 years ago. I have no idea if the indicated 75k mileage is accurate. That said the engine runs very well with excellent oil pressure and does not overheat. Overall the carappears to bemechanically very sound. However, the air conditioning pump is missing, the differential leaks quite badly andthe tires will need to be replaced. The neutral safety switch has been bypassed, so the car will currently turn over in any gear. Battery does not hold a charge and will need to be replaced. The steering wheel is a rather nice Nardi. Interior (MB-Tex)is in reasonable shape with some wear, at the very least will need a new carpet set. I have no idea why it has a 250 CE badge on the trunk lid. This is a North American carbureted model - it is not fuel injected, it is still equipped with Zenith Carburetors!
