Description

COLLECTORS TAKE NOTE:

We have been presented with a beautiful, collector status, Mercedes-Benz 280CE that spent the majority of its life in Palm Beach, CA. It has had an older full restorationin the 90's and has been meticulously kept and docmented since that point. The car is garaged and covered at all times. Chrome is excellent, interior is excellent, paint is excellent, mechanics are all running smoothly as if day one!

The C123 is powered by a M110 6cyl inline gas engine producing 182HP / 173 lb-ft (before the US emmission folks got into them), and was the only engine offered for this vehicle in 1978. Mated to an automatic transmission (4 speed with tempomat), the ride is smooth and controlled. If you have read this far, you know how rare a coupe like this is in excellent condition. Most have been neglegted or rusted beyond the point of saving. Ours is special, this original optioned power sunroof, Astral Silver Metallic #735, English reading gauges, central locking system, California Version, MB radio Exquisit without traffic news decoder (original replaced but included with the sale), working automatic antenna, automatic climate control and rear air conditioning, heat insulating glass all around / heated rear window / laminated / band filter, elimination of first aid box and warning triangle. (Although a first aid box was included after prior to being sold.)

All original Mercedes Benz tools are included in their original logoed cloth case, the trunk looks like nothing has ever been placed in it. Similar to the back seat in that respect. Headliner is MINT. Seats still have great support in the springs and there are no rips or tears of any kind. Dash is wonderful. No cracks, no missing pieces, no broken knobs. But there is always something isn't there? There are two resons I haven't marked this vehicle as MINT. Passenger side seat has a broken handle (new one included in sale), and on the driverside door panel, there is a Mercedes logo perfectly placed so as to cover a burn mark in the MB Tex. That's it. If you want to make it a 100 point concourse car, you could do it rather easily.

We sell a lot of "driver" quality, fun cars. This 280CE does not fall into that category. This is closer to a museum piece, and we are asking the proper sale price, maybe even a little low. Try finding one in this condition. I haven't been able to. Better yet, buy the junk that is out there and bring it up to our spec, this will cost you 5 times what we are asking! Please feel free to call/email with any questions. Check all of our other auctions as well!
