Here is an absolutely stunning Mercedes 450 SL in great condition inside and out. The car was bought by original owner Susan Radder of Chino CA from The M B Place Montclair in 1978. The car was then purchased by the second owner in 1993 and kept at their home here in Peoria AZ. A few years ago that owner handed down the car to his son who'd had it since. The previous owners garaged the car and took great pride in keeping it in the best condition possible. It is rare to find these SL's with this kind of low mileage because once you drive this car you won't want to get out. The body on the car is in very good condition and was extremely well maintained. The paint on the car is great and has had one repaint in the factory color of Brilliant Silver and is in very nice condition and looks almost as good as the day in rolled off the lot. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is totally solid. We do believe there's a small spot of surface corrosion where the hardtop meets the chrome trim piece but is extremely minimal. This is typical as moisture is known for getting caught between the hardtop seal and the trim. The car is riding on gorgeous FRESHLY POLISHED OEM Bundt wheels and Michelin performance radials. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The black soft top is in great condition, and has only a very small rip. The silver hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape.
The interior is in great shape all around! The RED MB Tech seats are all in very good condition and look absolutely as good as the day it was new which shows the quality of material used in this car. The dash is crack free and the door panels and console are in great shape. The carpets are all very nice and have been professionally cleaned. All dials and controls function as they should; power windows and antenna also are fully functional. The sound system is also very nice with the original Becker Mexico still in place. The trunk is clean and complete with correct mat, original jack. original tools, and original spare wheel.
Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. The V8 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. Many Mercedes experts and mechanics stand behind the 4.5L as the best engine Mercedes ever made. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The suspension is very tight and feels solid even at autobahn speeds above 90mph. This car was dealer serviced up until 75k miles. The previous family also took great care of the car and fixed or replaced the belts, hoses, power steering seals, AC service, control arm bushings, steering components,valve cover gaskets, brake flush, and transmission pan gasket I also had it into my local Mercedes independent and he checked it over and gave it the big thumbs up! Just had a full 100k Service including all new plugs, wires, fluids, and a fuel system service.
All in all, this is one very clean SL and has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners. This Mercedes is a fantastic car for the price and includes every option offered in this car.
