Description

This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560 SEL has just over 58,000 documented miles and was with its original owner for nearly 30 years.Initially purchased March 11, 1987 by a doctor in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, this top of the line W126 remained in her possession until her passing in late 2016.Her family then traded the car back to the local Mercedes dealer who sold the car new and serviced it for many years.I acquired the car in July 2017 and legally imported it from Canada to the U.S., driving it home nearly 2,000 miles from Toronto to Dallas. The car is currently registered in Texas and has a clear Texas title in my name.

Finished in its original Willow Green Metallic paint (code 261) with crème beige leather interior and burled walnut wood trim, the car currently has 94,128 kilometers (58,453 miles).Differences from a U.S. market car consist of:speedometer/odometer in kilometers, outside temperature display in Celsius, interior climate control settings in Celsius, fuel filler labels in English and French. The well preserved original interior features a factory Becker Grand Prix stereo cassette deck (upgraded by Becker with AUX input), rear carpeted footrests, complete set of owners manuals and emergency first aid kit, town and country horn.Seats are heated front and rear.Front seats are fully powered including headrests and have memory on both sides. The rear seat has a power recline feature. The original brown dashboard is crack-free; the seats and carpeting are in very good original condition. The wood trim is excellent on the dash and door panels, but shows some cracking of the finish on the lower center console near the window switches.

Since 2017, the following repair and maintenance items have been completed on the car:new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, plug wires, cruise control amplifier, left front window regulator, set of 4 new Michelin tires, replacement of both valve cover gaskets, inspection of timing chain and upper guides, new fuel filter, brake fluid flush, oil change, new heater mono valve, replacement of power antenna mast, replacement of front and rear bumper chrome, repainting of front and rear bumper covers, light tinting of windows to help preserve the interior. The A/C system was converted to 134a in 2000.

The carpeted trunk contains the original Michelin spare tire on its original 15” alloy wheel, as well as the original jack and tool kit.All equipment is fully functional, except for the clock and the power telescoping feature of the steering wheel.A replacement switch for the telescoping wheel is included with the car.The HVAC system works as it should, with cold A/C and warm heat. All power functions of the seats work well, including the power front headrests, power reclining rear seat, and heated seats front and rear.Power windows, door/trunk locks, and sunroof all work as intended.

This is an excellent example of the top of the line Mercedes in 1987, in a very rare exterior color. In addition to being beautiful, it is also in outstanding mechanical condition…..I have driven the car approximately 5,000 miles during the past year and would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. This car runs and drives great, with ice cold A/C, even in 100 degree Dallas summer weather!
