1976 W115 Mercedes Benz 240D
Description
I have owned this W115 chassis 240D for nearly 6 years. I purchased this car from the son of the original owner and have many service records dating back to '76. His father purchased the car new (delivered to US from Germany on 3/29/76) and drove it routinely until the early 90's. It served as my daily driver for about 4 years and has been a weekend driver for the past 2 years. Being a stick shift, this car is fun to drive. Taking out the old oil bath air filter boosted the acceleration considerably. It gets approx. 30 miles per gallon year round. It turns heads everywhere you go!I have invested approximately $10k into this car on a number of items including: new clutch and slave; replacement of all sub frame mounts and control arm bushings; new rear coil springs, new front/ rear shocks; rebuild of power steering box; flush and refill of fluids for transmission, brake lines and rear end; new brake pads front and rear; valve adjustment, inspect timing chain, new valve gasket; new fuel filters; cold air intake/ filter; new engine mounts; new flex disk at drive shaft; new white wall tires with front-end alignment; new deep cycle battery; roof top rack w/ 2 bike carriers; rebuilt light switch module; new rockford fosgate speakers.I have truly enjoyed driving this old diesel, but I need the space in the garage to make room for new toys. This car is a good candidate for anyone wanting a well preserved classic Benz. It can be driven daily (I wouldn't hesitate to take it across the country) or restored further for showing. As you probably know, these old Mercedes diesels are some of the most rugged cars ever built. Happy motoring!
