The legendary Mercedes Benz Turbo Diesel Station Wagon!I have owned this beast for three years and have been religious about getting all maintenance and repairs done at Mike’s German Automotive in Santa Barbara. This is a rare manual transmission "grey market" car. Manual transmission wagons were not sold in the U.S. in the eighties except by special dealer imports such as this car(delivered in Santa Monica originally). Still has original European owners manual and euro-style headlights. It was my wife’s daily driver for years until we moved to snow country and she bought a 4wd suv.
I bought it for $5000 four years ago and it is still in pretty much the same condition save for normal wear and tear. Even though this model has appreciated in recent years, I would like to sell it soon because it is just sitting around collecting dust. Here is your chance to be the envy of all your hipster friends!
The Good:
-The engine runs strong and starts right up in any weather.
-Original “silver bullet” paint and navy blue interior.
-The rumble seat in back.So that your kids can embarrass you to every passing car.
-A working sunroof.AKA machine gun turret if you happen to be a south american druglord or leader of an african militia.
-new battery a couple months ago
-brand new tires with <200 miles on them
-new clutch and throwout bearing <5000 miles ago
The Bad:
-Normal small dents and knicks inside and out.
-One piece of trim is missing.($25 on ebay)
The Ugly:
-Since I purchased it, there is a problem in the electrical system that I have not been able to figure out. This affects the following intermittently: The interior lights, the radio, and the heater.Maybe the low beams too.I will try to check that out before I sell it.
