Description

This ultra low mileage, one owner 450SLC was bought new in Newport Beach, California and was only driven 21,000 miles before it was covered with plastic and stored in a garage in sunny Southern California for over 30 years and not driven. True rust-free, excellent condition barn find brought back to life with a little maintenance and meticulous attention to detail with genuine Mercedes Benz parts.

Because it was sitting so long, first the gas tank was removed and sent out to be dipped in a hot tank, re-sealed and painted, the fuel system was gone through, replacing the fuel pump, filter, rubber lines, and accumulator, the fuel injectors were replaced, including the fuel distributor, warm up regulator and dampener. All the fluids have been serviced, the engine oil, transmission, differential, engine anti-freeze, and brake fluid.

Complete brake job was performed, new brake discs installed, pads, wear sensors, rubber brake lines, and wear sensor harness. the front wheel bearings were dissembled and repacked with grease. A tune up was performed replacing the spark plugs, air filter and check the timing. Brand new Mercedes Benz battery installed. As well as a turn signal flasher relay. The engine drive belts were replaced with OEM Continental brand and new anti/freeze coolant installed.

Transmission pan was removed and cleaned, new gasket and filter installed, transmission fluid flushed and replaced. The differential fluid drained and refilled with synthetic 75/90. Both rear sway bar drag links were replaced. The wheels/ tires were broken down, rims sent out for factory paint and clear coat, four new General Altima tires mounted and balanced. The factory air conditioning was converted to 134a and blows cold.

The original paint is still intact and buffed out to a high shine, there are a few imperfections here and there, but is in outstanding condition for the original paint with no work done other than clay bar and buff. The bright work is mostly in good condition with some minor pitting on the front grill and door handles. The body is completely straight with no dents or door dings.

The exterior paint and interior are in great condition because it’s been inside it’s entire life, everything looks “fresh” and there is no signs of sun fade anywhere on the car.The driver’s seat had a small imperfection and initially was going to replace the top seat cover only, but decided to go ahead and rebuild the entire seat with new covers and pads to give this car the attention it deserves and It looks fabulous!

After bringing this car back to life I’ll have to say it drives wonderfully, better than expected, and goes down the road so smooth, like the day it rolled off the assembly line, no rattles or signs of age that some “vintage” cars may have, looking good but function lacking.
