MotoeXotica Classic Cars is proud to present this 1994 SL600 Convertible. The clean CarFax indicates only 3 previous owners, all in Florida and low mileage of only 68k miles.Dressed in Imperial Red with a black canvas soft-top, this example was assembled in Bremen, Germany. It was released from the factory on February 18, 1994 and was delivered on February 21, 1994. This two-door left the factory with the following equipment – self-leveling suspension all around, with Adaptive Damping System (ADS) (code 216); Exquisit Radio MB (code 251); Acceleration Skid Control (ASR) (code 471); hardtop heat-insulating glass all around, heated rear window (code 592); elimination of first aid kit and warning triangle (code 639); eight-hole light alloy rims (code 652); black canvas power soft-top; center high-mounted stop lamp (code 340); anti-theft/anti-break-in warning system (code 551); and closing system with infrared remote control (code 880).The car’s paint and trim are in overall excellent shape with minor imperfections, while the windows are clear and crack-free. The vehicle’s lights are in overall great order but the left taillight is broken. This big Benz rolls on Dayton Daytona ZR radials, size 225/55ZR16, surrounding eight-hole alloy wheels (code 652).The droptop’s bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is very tidy and the bumpers fit well to the car’s body. Under that hood is a 6.0L DOHC 48-valve V-12 engine (code M120) with sequential fuel injection. Backing that engine is a four-speed 4G-TRONIC automatic transmission (code W4A040). The transmission is calibrated to take off in second gear to reduce “creeping” and provide a smoother ride. The transmission will select first gear only if the selector is in “2” or in case of abrupt acceleration. Other attributes of this gearbox include a second to third shift delay when the engine is cold in order to speed catalyst warm-up. Fourth gear is a 1:1 ratio. It is considered by enthusiasts to be one of the most reliable transmissions ever built byMercedes-Benz,with some examples exceeding 300,000 miles of service.Driver convenience features include climate control, power steering, power four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock, power windows, power locks, power mirrors and dual front air bags.Inside, the Beige leather bucket seats (code 275A) are in overall great condition but there is a blemish on the passenger seat side bolster. The matching carpet and headliner also look better than average. The four-spoke steering wheel with airbag is in excellent shape, the inner door panel echo the rest of the interior’s theme though the driver’s door trim is broken and the glovebox does not latch but the center console looks fantastic. The mirror glass is in decent order while the shift lever is in very good condition. Rounding out the interior is a factory AM/FM stereo with cassette deck and compact disc player.Under the body, there is a front suspension with independent damper struts, separate coil springs and gas-pressurized shock absorbers, triangular lower control arms with anti-dive geometry and stabilizer bar.Out back, the rear suspension is comprised of an independent five-arm multilink with separate single-tube gas-pressurized shock absorbers and coil springs, geometry for anti-lift, anti-squat and alignment control and stabilizer bar.Designed in 1984, the R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of theMercedes-Benz W124 and featured many innovative details for the time, for instance, electronically controlled damping (Adaptive Damping SystemADS, optional). The R107’s somewhat dated rear suspension with semi-trailing arms gave way to a modern multi-link axle. The number of standard features was high, with electric action for the windows, mirrors, seats and hydraulic convertible top. The R129 model was the first convertible/roadster to offer an automatic rollbar deployment in event of rollovers. The driver can manually raise and lower the rollbar if he or she chooses. This facilitates the clean look of R129 without compromising the occupant’s safety. That year, the car saw a minor facelift for the SL with changes to the taillamps and white turn signal indicators in the front. Introduced in 1993 as the600 SL, it was re-badged theSL 600in 1994.Competition to this Mercedes in 1994 included Chevrolet’s Corvette Convertible, Ferrari’s 348 Spider, Jaguar’s XJS V12 Convertible, Lexus’ SC400, Panoz’s Roadster and Porsche’s 928.This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 68,547 miles and understood to be actual per the CarFax. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title.
