Description

Excellent condition black 1982 Mercedes 300D TurboDiesel sedan with tan MB-Tex upholstery. 104,769 miles. This car has been my daily driver since March of 2011. I purchased it with 66145 miles and have put on 38,614+ miles over the past 5+ years. So I can tell you withcertainty that this car has been reliable and can legitimately be your daily driver for many more miles to come. I'm only selling it because our family situation has changed and we needed the extra space afforded by a minivan.

From 2011 to 2014 all repairs were done by Fluid MotorUnion in Plainfield, IL. From 2015 to present Mercedes Benz of Naperville, IL has performed repairs.I had the repairs performed by qualified service technicians, but if you are a do-it-yourselfer this car is for you. It's entirely mechanical. Open the engine and it's all there to see. Nothing is controlled via computer. There is also a very active online community devoted to these cars. One good resource is MercedesSource.Convert it to waste vegetable oil and drive for free!

The W123 chassis that this 300D TurboDiesel is built upon is legendary for it's durability and reliability. As my experience with this car has shown, it's been a reliable daily driver that even at its age has many features that are still optional on todays cars like the automatic climate control. Power windows, sunroof, automatic climate control, and automatic transmissionmake this an easy car to drive. Set the interior temperature and forget it. It will blow warm or cold, hard or light, depending on conditions. This car weighs a ton, it's solid steel and very stable, very safe to drive yet still gets good fuel economy. At 104K miles, this car is just now getting broken in. It's routine for these engines to go 300K+ miles, some have even gone a million. As mentioned, I've used this as my daily driver in Chicago for the past 5+ years. I've been proactive about washing it during the winter to keep road salt at a minimum, but it's also important to note that I've not had any trouble starting it even during the coldest snaps. I do garage it, but at no point has it gelled up or gotten too cold to start.I have taken it on 3 longroad trips to Kansas and back with no problems whatsoever.

The car does come with two sets of extra floor mats. One are cloth MBZ mats, the other are WeatherTech rubber mats specifically sized for the vehicle. The car comes with several do-it-yourself maintenance manuals and guides produced by Kent Bergsma of MercedesSource.

To summarize, this is a really nice car that has been extremely well taken care of. I've already fixed most of the problems that could crop up with a car this age and mileage so you don't have to. I feel confident that anything that could have gone wrong would have already gone wrong given that I've put nearly 40K miles on it driving it daily over the past 5+ years. Buy with confidence and drive with confidence. It can be a daily driver or you could clean it up even more than I have and show it off. Come see it, Ipromise you won't be disappointed.
