1983 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL convertible
Description
The classic antique Mercedes convertible. Perfect for weekend driving on winding roads. Highly desirable "survivor, not restored" condition. Purchased in 1989 with 68,511 miles (I believe I am the third owner). Always licensed, driven, and insured; never "stored"--the kiss of death for antique cars. Kept in heated garage since 1995. Original radio, jack, tools, owners manual. Slight oil drip, top up every few months. Small tear in left side soft top window (photo). Scuffed paint where hard top attaches (photo). Bent chrome piece on hard top. Check your location for antique car options: in Virginia the costs of plates, property tax, and insurance are very low. 1983 380SL in Hagerty's Valuation Report in "Fair" condition lists at $6,100 and "Good" condition at $12,200, and includes the summary sentence "As such, the Mercedes-Benz 380SL is a fine choice as a collectible 1980s convertible". The car is between Fair and Good. Insured at $7,000. I have retired and am downsizing.
