1967 w108 250s All Original Survivor 1st. Paint 1 owner 2018 Manual 4 spd. Docs.
Description
As the title states this is an all original manual floor shift survivor. One owner till 2018. I purchased this car last year from the original owner who picked it up new at the factory. I have been into classic cars for thirty years and have never had one this original. I have a clean/clear title in my name.
It was purchased new through Jim Slemons Mercedes in Santa Ana California and delivered to the owner at the factory. This car is completely original in its first paint of special order Dunkelrot (Dark Red) Original vinyl black upohlstery and carpets all in great original shape. It comes with all sales information including correspondence between the owner and salesman, European delivery price list, Delivery invoice from factory, all books, brochures, owners manual and plate, touch up paint, original toolkit, jack, service manual and license plate frame that he kept in the binder as seen in the photos. A journal documenting the maintenance done to the car over the years for things such as a radiator re core in 1999, etc. The grill badge indicating factory delivery is even still on and has never been removed.
It was running and driving when I purchased it but have done much to get it what I consider road worthy. The clutch feels good and shifts smoothly through the gears. It drives nice and has completed a few round trips to San Diego from my home in Laguna Beach. I have had a professional european auto shop do the work and the car.Below is a list of what I have done which I have receipts for:-Five new Maxxis Tires-All around new inner and outer OEM wheel bearings-All brake calipers rebuilt by CH Topping in long beach(the best!)and soft OEM lines replaced-Master cylinder rebuilt by CH Topping with stainless sleeve for durability-All new OEM brake rotors-Many new maintenance items such as battery, belts, muffler grommets, air cleaners, Carb clean out, Axle Boots, Alternator, charging and lighting systems checked, radiator cap, fuses, fluid changes (both Motor and Transmission) and others.
As far as the condition, being a survivor weekend driver, the paint does have small flaws such as cloudy and thin if not through in places with scratches and the occasional gouge here and there. Checking and lead reaction are evident. The trunk has oxidation. I have been tempted to have it buffed out but I will let the next owner who may want to preserve the originality do as they wish. The interior is in very good shape for its age but does have dash cracks and wood deterioration due to sun. The only flaw on the vinyl are some tears on the top of the set back as seen in the photos. There are scratches on the windshield from the wipers but it appears to be the original glass and can likely be polished or replaced as the rubber is original as well and hard. The bright work is all very nice and tight and has never been removed. The drivers window does not go up or down much, all other windows work including the wind wings. The right rear door window handle is broken but I have the original vinyl insert for when a new one is located. It is missing one wheel trim ring but I didn't like the look of them so I kept them off after the tires. All five rims are in the original paint and dated 04/67 and in very nice shape. It is highly rust free with two small bubbles one inch in length and hardly detectable, on the front lower rocker panels and previous leaking battery. Some surface rust in the trunk area but nothing major! Underneath is excellent with original paint showing well in the wheel wells, etc. This is highly rust free with no evidence of previous paint work other than a dot of touch up in the past. This is 51 year old paint! All closing panels have that perfect thud or ping sound.I have not done anything to hurt the originality of the car as I have not "Doctored" it up for the pictures. I have not used abrasives or anything stronger than soap and water to clean it up. I am disappointed Ebay will only allow up to 24 pictures as I shot 100 today documenting just how nice a survivor this car is. I chose to show pictures that are indicative of the overall condition. All the closing panels are that clean, all the inner doors and bottoms are that clean, and all drain holes in thresholds are perfect, etc.I can make the car available for viewing in person and welcome any "reasonable" inspection. The car is located in south Orange County Ca. about an hour and a half from both L.A. and San Diego. I will also work with shipping at the buyers expense. This is by no means a "concours" car but you have a chance to own a highly original classic and you know they are only original once!Note:If you have questions please feel free to ask! Please don't hit "Buy it Now" or "Make Offer" and then ask for me to text my phone number as this is a scam I have had on the other items I am selling and will ignore.
