1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL
Description
1987 Mercedes Benz 560SL
I am selling my 1987 Mercedes 560SL, creme (almond, light ivory) color outside with chocolate brown leather interior and dark brown soft top, beautiful color combo. This SL is in excellent condition in and out for 30 year old classic. Absolutely no rust. Leather seats, carpeting, wood trim, dash board, all in great shape. Original radio. Everything working properly, including a/c. No cracked lenses or glass. Basically new top of the line Michelin Primacy tires (maybe 500 miles on them). The soft top is in very nice condition, plastic windows are nice and clear. Hard top is excellent. The car looks and runs great.
Now the best part: I am Mercedes mechanic for the last 35 years, I have 3 of these 560SL' and one has to go, that is why I am selling it. I would love to keep it, but I am looking to retire and can't keep them all. When I purchased this SL last year, I did about $6000-7000 worth of mechanical work on this car since I intended to keep it. I know these cars very well, I know what to look for and what needs to be done. I know that cracked chain rail can kill these engines in a heart beat, with no warning, I saw it too many times over the years. That is why I always replace everything before I drive these cars. I will list repairs I did about 100 miles ago: new timing chain, new chain tensioner, new chain rails, new tensioner rail, new camshaft oilers, new valve cover gaskets, new distributor seal, new spark plugs, all new belts, new air filter, new fuel filter, new spark plug wires, new motor mounts, new transmission mount, new subframe mounts, new steering damper, new tie rod ends, new steering box coupling, transmission service, oil change (synth. oil), new rear brakes, new hood pad and hood seal, new center console pad and probably more that I forgot. I also have new hard top stand for it. You can't go wrong with this SL, they will be the next desirable classics, the 560SL (1986-1989) are the best from the 107 line. The earlier 113 line SL (230,250,280) are getting out of reach, between $50000 and $200000. If interested, please email me or call me at 631 682 0005. Thank you.
