Description

Powertech Select Motorcarsis pleased to offer this classic 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SL. This SL has been repainted in the original Maple Yellow (606) has tan leather interior and the original black soft top along with the original matching hardtop. It was originally sold by Gulf Stream Motors in West Palm Beach, Florida in December 1972, as shown by the original Owner’s Registration Card. Most recent ownership was by a family since 2007 (a brother, then his sister) when it resided in NJ and Indiana. It is being sold with a clean New Jersey title.

The R107 model SL premiered in 1972 as a replacement for the popular 230/250/280SL W113 series. The family of models existed with minimal changes until 1989. The smaller early-style bumpers, euro headlamps and the body colored wheel covers differentiates this SL from most others of its vintage.

With the R107, Mercedes debuted a V-8 engine in the convertible lineup, rated at 190 hp and 240 ft-lbs of torque when new. This engine was mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission.

The only modifications appear to be an Alpine head-unit and Sony speakers.

This SL drives very well, accelerates strong, has firm brakes and well controlled suspension and steering feel, including at highway speeds.

In June 2019, Powertech in Rockaway NJ inspected the car resulting in the air conditioning was recharged, along with some surface rust repaired and the exhaust hangers replaced.

It has some touch up/marks around the car (including where the hard top sits on the cover), small dings/dents on the hood and doors, butdoes not to detract to the overall look of the car. In addition, the original soft top has multiple holes/cuts as identified some of the gallery pictures. The driver’s sunvisor has been removed, center arm rest and rubber replacement sill guard is included with the car.

The hardtop and stand is included with the sale.

It come with the original books, punch card and some maintenance records (stamps in books from the 70's and invoices from approx. 2007-2014).
