Description

I recently purchased this car from my doctor cousin in law sight unseen and decided that it needs a bit more restoration than I had expected. Up until last week, it was owned by the original owner. Included is the original window sticker, 3 keys, owners manual, and other fun 1987 papers. I have a picture of the original title proving I bought from original owner as it says "new" on the title. Check out the front photo there is even an old doctor on call sign in the window.
Brand new battery installed last week. Oil changed last week as well. Car passed New York State inspection last week and has a valid sticker. Starts right up and drives strong. Runs with great oil pressure as it should. Transmission shifts smoothly. I have a video I took of an acceleration run that I recently did.. Ebay won’t let me put link in listing. Please call or text me at 516-662-5272 to discuss or I can text you the video. Though it needs paint and bumper repair, the body is straight and the gaps look just right - actually better than my 2018 Tesla Model X. Never been in an accident per the vehicle report and I believe that as the gaps look so good to me. I drove it for an almost 100 mile trip from Glendale NY to Wading River, NY and no issues. Likely could drive cross country no problem, except the a/c doesn't blow cold. Heat and defrost work. I would expect she'll run even better the more tanks of gas you run through.
Tires have good tread but I think had slight flat spots from sitting. Car shook at high speed but after driving a while that subsided substantially so that’s the only thing I could think would cause that. Belts and hoses look good too. Car wasn’t abused just needs some work. it definitely needs a paint job and bumper repair. Leather upholstery is in good shape only the drivers seat shows wear in the left bolster. The springs in the seats are showing their age. The power windows work, the moonroof and cruise control don't work but that could be because of fuses. The doctor left me some spare fuses, so I'm guessing that's it, but didn't investigate. The dashboard lights and power window buttons illuminate nicely. Thermometer works. I noticed two electrical strange things. 1) the driver power seat only works when the door is open. 2) one of the rear windows lowers when the button is pressed up and raises when it's pushed down. Before I changed the battery, the driver's window opened but then wouldn't close. Once new battery was installed, the driver's window closed. I didn't try opening it again as I didn't want it to get stuck if there was a problem again. The headliner and moonroof headliner are a little loose. No leaks that I could see and no mildew smell.
It looks like the doctor had 3 of 4 all weather mats installed on top of the original mats. I will include those with the sale. Radio is an aftermarket with removable face. Case for the face is in the car. I didn't try removing it and didn't try the tape deck because I threw out all my cassette tapes in approximately 2004. Radio works. Radio even triggers the power antenna, but the power antenna doesn't go up all the way. I sprayed it with WD40 but it still didn't go all the way up. Power locks work fine. No warning lights come on, but they all seem to work on startup.
This is probably the most reasonably priced S-class on ebay, but the car does need work as mentioned. I have done my best to describe the car, and if I left anything out, it wasn't intentional. Please remember, it's 32 years old, so for that reason, it's sold as-is. Please ask questions before bidding.

just took the 420 out for a ride. Forgot to mention the following: Windshield wipers and windshield washers work well, the passenger side power mirror is not working, but that could be a fuse. The dashboard and console are cracked just in case you didn't notice in the photos. The knurled knob in the console that controls the front to back fader for the radio seems to have been disconnected when the new radio was installed. Trunk has original factory mat and appears to have spare tire and jack though I didn't test these items. On Sep-27-19 at 10:30:24 PDT, seller added the following information:

3 small rock chips in windshield...passed inspection with them.
