I’m selling my German-spec 1986 Mercedes 230GE, a classic first generation Geländewagen or G Wagon for short. I originally purchased it in Germany and brought it back with me when I moved back to the U.S. I have all the Customs and DOT paperwork, and a clean Texas title. It is in very good shape for its age, inside and out. The odometer only has 5 digits and reads ~66,700 kilometers, but I suspect it has ~166,700 kilometers (~104,000 miles) . It has a 2.3L four cylinder fuel injected gas engine that starts quickly and runs very well. It is a rare automatic transmission, which still drives and shifts well. It will do about 70mph on the highway fairly easily. The four wheel drive works well, and so do both of the factory locking differentials.
The body and paint are in very good condition. Just this year I had any body rust removed and replaced with new steel repair panels, and painted back in the factory original silver.
It has newer 275/65R18 (32”) all-terrain Michelin tires on factory Mercedes wheels from a 2014 G550, with wider fender flares that gives it a little more modern look.
I also have a lot of spare parts, like the original wheels, that will go with it.

-Michelin tires about 2 years ago, still very good tread
-New fan belt
-Transmission filter and fluid changed
-Transfer case fluid changed
-Front and rear differential oil changed
-Replaced front wheel bearings and seals
-Replaced knuckle seals and kingpin bearings
-New battery
There are some known issues:-There is a battery drain when the key is off. I have installed a solenoid to disconnect the battery when I'm not driving it. This keeps the battery from draining.-The power windows are slow. The rear ones need to be lubricated, right now they need help to go up.-The speedometer works, but the odometer works intermittently.-There is a hole in the inner fender under the battery tray. I suspect it is from a leaking battery in the past. The current battery isn't leaking.
I currently have a clear Texas title and it is registered in Texas. I don’t know what the regulations are for imported vehicles in other states.
