Description

1982 Mercedes G Class

The Mercedes G Class - G Wagon - G Wagen -Gelaendewagen - all wheel drive super SUV.
"The G-Klasse is the ultimate in an all-around 4X4 SUV. Developed for the army andmade with off-road enthusiasts in mind... It combines more desirable features in one streamlined package than we ever imagined or hoped would be possible"
If not for Shah of Iran (at the time a significant Mercedes shareholder) to Mercedes and his passion to make the ultimate 4X4 vehicle based on the highly successful Jeep Wrangler, the Mercedes-Benz immortal G Wagon line would never have come to production.
As a result, the production of G Wagon for civilian market started in 1979.
This Car
This G-wagon is (with matching numbers) part time 4 wheel drive with high, low, 2 and 4 wheel range, with availability to shift from 2X4 to 4X4 on the go, 4 speed manual transmission, 5 passenger seats with option to add 2 side facing rear seats with seat belts, side steps, rear mount original spare wheel, updated OEM seats throughout, with custom made seat covers. The GD300 was also outfitted with Aluminum wheels, the all original diesel mechanical Bosch pump fuel injected motor and a matching numbers 4 speed manual transmission per specifications and records that i have.
Chassis number 46033317023697 was purchased in 1982. by formerMercedes-Benzemployee in Sindelfingen (near Stuttgart). After 35 years with Mercedes, Marco retired back in home town of Kraljevo in Serbia in 1994. Then this Gelaendewagen was serviced and stored in family home until 1999. when it was re-registered. In 2000. its body rust was addressed and repainted in lower half.
When Marco passed away in 2004., it was stored until 2011. when I purchased it. That year we serviced all mechanical moving parts.
It was never involved in an accident, so chassis and body panels were as straight as the original.
This very rare Mercedes-Benz Mercedes GD300 was the subject to a year long, body on frame restoration in 2012. and 2013.
Shell was stripped down to the bare metal. All parts that needed attention were replaced with the OEM W460 factory body parts and then finished in Matt Black color.
The restoration of the original bodywork was particularly complex and took about five months to complete, from May 2012. to September 2012. #17023697looks almost totally hand rebuilt. All body parts and interior were stripped and were rebuilt and show the work of craftsmen.
This level of craftsmanship is exceptional and the photo-documentation of the build is as comprehensive as we’ve ever seen. The original dieselengine, transmission, differentials ( all matching numbers ), power train and all rubber parts were servicedand the interior has been upgraded to leather. Please look at details of interior detail and hand stitching. My friends, a G-Class specialists, says no other G-Wagen has been restored to this level and that it is essentially a new truck.
An exhaustive 50+ photos in my documentation, showing detailing and the restoration, can be seen per request.
The matching numbers and only 50135 original low mileage, as well as its solid state, which was no doubt a benefit of having spent 28 years in possession of loving owner and being used only few days a month.
Replicating the car’s paint presented an interesting problem as it was a lime green. We decided to go a bit with modern look and contracted paint supplier for the Black matte finish paint.
The G-wagon front suspension was also reconditioned and it drives as in 1982. When the rear axle was disassembled, the gears looked to be in virtually new condition, so they were reinstalled. Likewise, the original brake drums were tested, trimmed and reinstalled, and the original wheel rims were repainted and shod with Good Year - Wrangler AT/R tires.
The interior of the GD300 boasts new black custom AMG pattern stitched seat covers, but the headliner, original rubber flooring and plastic parts of the interior were just cleaned, not replaced. All of the other appointments, the OEM steering wheel, gearshift and 4x4 knob and gauges, are also original pieces.
Over the course of the 517 days effort, hundreds of details were attended to and refurbished, with lot of love and attention.
The finished product is an amazing piece of automotive history and a testament to the work Mercedes-Benz Enthusiasts are performing on the old Mercedes' these days. It's not about the time and money, it is all about the passion.
Original Mercedes G-wagons are exceptionally good cars, that perform in a way that makes them seem much younger than they are. Strong brakes, excellent steering and a crisp manual transmission all combine to make the GD300 diesel the one of the most wanted all wheel drive vehicles.
This is hard to find, MINT, all original, no rust, G-Class.
One deviation from the original is the tire cover - perfectly painted to match color of the newer G-class style complements look, it is a marvelous touch. I still own the original tire cover, chequered seat covers and interior door covers. Additionally, AM/FM cassette player is in perfect working condition. All door seals and lot of other rubber parts were replaced with OEM - very expensive parts.
The finish of the GD300 is of the highest level and shows craftsmanship. The original engine, differentials, and transmission remains with matching numbers to prove, also in wheel-well - front right frame.
This is a sensational Truck to drive. Its road manners are what one would expect from any beautifully engineered motorcar. The true excitement, however, is when this ultimate 4X4 goes off-road. That is when you can experience a true pleasure. With abundant power and thrill to drive, this G-wagon diesel is simply addictive.
In recent years, these ultra-rare, mint condition, LWB G-Class have come to be recognized by collectors and enthusiasts for what they have always been – truly the best of the best. Price keeps going up in Europe and they are very hard to find in MINT condition. They are a tiny group of factory-built, constructed with the intention of increasing the public visibility of one of the greatest Trucks constructed.
G-Wagon are prized for their magnificent engineering and build quality, purity of design and outstanding driving experience, with just a few in this condition which have survived to this day. They are very seldom offered for sale. This is a gem - hard to find, MINT, all original, not abused, well maintained G-Wagon.
Please do not bid if you have never worked on, or have not paid someone to restore a vehicle. You will not understand value and amount of work that takes to complete the project like this one.
With the new restaurant on the way I'm ready to part ways with cars, my boat and jet skies.
Offered for sale locally and internationally, I encourage all G-Class lovers and collectors to give me a call or text at+12395377227, rather than message me on Ebay.
This G-Class is my passion and I would love to share more details with you over the phone.
Also, I encourage you to visit me at my home in Sunny Naples Florida and take a look at this hard to find Mint 1982 GD300 and my 1988 G230 Convertible all original.
