190D
Description
*. * Autocheck VHR shows an Odometer error between 1995&1996. There must have been some error in reading the odometer back then, because there's no way you can drive a car 100K miles in 8 months. The odometer still works, and from my knowledge its never been rolled back. I'm currently in contact with Autocheck tryingto fix this Issue.
Up for sale is my 1986 "Baby Benz" 190D, equipped with the I5 2.5L NA legendary Benz diesel engine. Great shape overall considering age, but not perfect; Hey, it's going on 32 years old! I've owned the car for nearly 9 years, since Feb '08. It's been a great, reliable car and I drive it regularly. Very economical on fuel.
There is an inline fuel heater & fuel filter heater installed making the car capable of running on a blend of vegetable oil/diesel.I added a momentary contact switch to the glow plug circuit that allows you to manually extend the glow plug cycle on super cold days.
I've kept the car well maintained, & it has been garage kept since I've owned it. The interior is in very good condition as you can see in the photos. The dashboard has the typical cracks from sun exposure that all Benz's of this era seem to have. The exterior paint is in fantastic condition, again considering the vehicle is nearly 32 years old. There are a few small rust spots, notably one on the lower edge of the passenger front fender, one on the bottom of the pass. side wheel arch, and one on bottom of the drivers side fender (see photos). Very little rust considering age. This car was a Maryland car prior to 2008, so salt exposure has been minimal over the life of the car. New injector nozzles, glow plugs, head gasket & exhaust system in 2015. Runs like a top, transmission is strong, suspension is tight. Also, a new Kenwood sound system in 2015.
Air conditioning does not currently work. About 6 months ago the condenser developed a small leak. All it needs is a new condenser, all other components work great and are leak free, I've had working AC for the last 8 years up until about 6 months ago. The previous owner added a toggle switch under the dash out of sight to turn the AC compressor clutch on and off, since the thermostat and pressure switches that govern that function are very finicky on these cars.
Overall the car is in great shape, runs and drives amazing. A vehicle history report is Available for this car for free on request, just let me know. Its too large to post in picture form.
I reserve the right to end the auction early since the car is for sale locally as well.
