Description

What we have here for sale is, my Rare 1976 Mercury Ghia Capri II. It is original with the exception of one repaint of the outer body of the car. It has a uniquely designed, manual, working sunroof It has all 4 original Ghia rims, as well as the spare, and a fifth bonus Ghia rim. I have gotten extensive maintenance work done, to ensure and maintain its passing of California smog, which is current to date. I have had the car fully detailed, interior/exterior, waxed and clayed. I am the third owner, having purchased it from its long time (18+ years) owner, who had it kept in Marin (outside of San Francisco, CA). If you have further questions, or would like pictures of the invoices from work performed, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Here is some background history of the Mercury Ghia Capri II
In 1974, a new version of the Capri was designed, the "Capri II." Unlike the original sedan. this was a larger, better-engineered hatchback, with a superior engine (2.8 Liter, 60 degree Cologne V-6). There was no 1976 model year Capri, and 1976 was the first year for the Capri II. Sales of the car were high and the vehicle was well received by the automobile press. In 1977, it was the last year Capris were imported into the US.
It is estimated that only 20,000 Capris were brought into the US from Germany. This Capri is probably one of only several thousand Capris still in existence, of those, there are only a fraction left of the Ghia Capri II in the original bright orange.
