1947 Mercury Eight Convertible
Description
47 Merc. Convertible. Recently out of long term storage. Wouldn't take much to make it a shabby summer cruiser! Or good candidate for full restoration. Exterior sheet metal very good, straight, minimal rust. There is rust in the floors, lower cowl areas, inner rockers and a small spot in the trunk floor. The frame is solid and the body mount area are in good shape, structurally sound. Has new master cyl., wheel cyl., brakes are working. Gas take was removed, cleaned and reinstalled. Engine is a 50 Flathead which the previous owner said was rebuilt and not a lot of miles on it, though I can't verify it. It has compression and the water jacket areas look good and clean. New water pumps to put the 8BA in an earlier car with new front and rear motor mounts. Carb has been cleaned and new gasket set installed. Original interior there and complete. Car is 99% complete except the following: hubcaps, proper pressure plate to work with the 8BA in earlier car, exhaust system including manifolds (the 50's don't work with the new water pumps in place). I have a good tailpipe and some other misc. new parts. Now is the time to view this car with the nose off and interior out, so you can see everything. I will put the nose back on and pack everything in it for shipping if it sells. I will deliver to Spring Carlisle for free if a full price deal is in place and paid for. If it does not sell, I will keep moving forward on it, get it running, then the price goes up! Right now $12,500 or BO. Please tirekickers welcome, but please no ridiculous lowball offers, I don't have to sell the car. Call Skip 203-410-4590 or email. NO texts
