1964 Mercury Montclair Marauder
Description
THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION, SO IF YOU BID IT WILL SELL! I have a 1964 Mercury Montclair Marauder 4 door with original interior and only 89,000 original miles. Mercury campaigned this car in NASCAR in 64' and also won the Pikes Peek hill climb the same year too. This is known as a convertible hard top since there is no center post between the front and rear doors. It has a auto trans, power steering, and power brakes, and two barrel carb. The Marauder package was comparable to "GT" of today. The Marauder gave you the sloped back window for(NASCAR), 390ci Big Block base engine, and special badging on the front fenders. This car was also ordered with a dealer tow package with dual rear view mirrors mounted on the front fenders and heavier rear springs. One repaint a few years ago in original color. No rust! Floors and frame were undercoatedat the dealer in 1964 and are rust free. Burns no oil. This car is all original(minuspaint) right down to the hub caps and air cleaner. A true unmodified and unmolested car which is getting impossible to find in this day and age. Clean Indiana title in my name.
Good:
-New brakemaster cylinder
-New brake booster
-New brake cylinders, rear drums, brake hoses, shoes.
-Rebuilt power steering pump.
-All gauges work except the gas gauge
-New side window weather stripping
-New Flowmaster 70 series muffler and tail pipe
-New tail light lenses
-New trunk weather stripping
-Full tune-up(wires, plugs, points, condenser, cap & rotor, and coil)
-Adjusted lifters-Tires have only 2000 miles on them
Bad:
-Front seat is ripped(see picture- has new seat cover)
-Repaint is an amiture job, but looks good 3 feet away
-Carburetor needs rebuilding. Engine idles rough, but smooths out right off of idle and runs great down the road(this is solid lifter motor).-Turn signals stopped working($35 module available)
The car is located in Georgetown IN(off I-64) just outside of Louisville KY. This is a great turn key cruiser the whole family can jump in, at half the price of a Ford Galexie with a wimpy small block or inline six. Thanks for looking. Steve
