1960 Mercury Montclair
Description
430, auto, 61k. Beautiful 1960 Mercury show car. It wins every show I take it to, and in 16 years of ownership, the only one I've seen. When I bought it in 2002, I had it totally stripped down, any exterior rot cut out (there was very little which was confined to the doors) and replaced with steel. 16 years later the paint still looks fresh! The bumpers, grille, and most of the exterior trim was also redone. The interior is mostly original except for the seat covers and carpet. The dash does has a crack along the speaker grille. In the time I've owned the car I've had the nylon capped timing gear changed out with a steel gear and new timing chain. The crankshaft mounted PS pump has been changed, as well as the water pump rebuilt. The PS slave cylinder and control vale were rebuilt. New wide whitewall radials were put on in early '16. The carb and distributor were rebuilt last winter. The brakes were changed over to dual master cylinder and were all done. Also, the power booster was rebuilt. The front end, springs (front and rear), steering gear, rag joint, shocks were all done. The gas tank was replaced with one from a 60 Galaxie and works fine, but the sending unit is not hooked up. The car is a great driver and always draws a crowd at the shows. Only selling to fund another project. You cannot build a car like this for my asking price, and the price is firm. Serious only please. $1000 deposit due within 3 days of completion. Balance due in cash or wire transfer. Title and car do not leave until funds have cleared my bank.
