1968 Mercury Cougar 351 Cleveland 4V
Description
Up for Auction is my 1968 Mercury Cougar. This car is powered by a Ford 351 Cleveland 4V motor and a Ford C4 manual valve body transmission. If you are not familiar with a manual valve body it means you shift gears but don't have a clutch. The shifting is done thru a Hurst Quarter Stick Pistol Grip shifter. The C4 is also equipped with a TCI torque converter. The C4 trans was professionally built for this application. A new Aluminum driveshaft was professionally made and mated to the Ford 3.5 Axle. The 351 Cleveland 4V features a Holley 650CFM Street Avenger Carburetor on top of a Edelbrock Air-Gap Intake Manifold. It has a CAM Research camshaft installed and I have the data sheet for the new buyer of this vehicle. It also has under the valve covers Comp Cams Magnum Roller Rocker Arms. The exhaust flows thru headers into a dual exhaust system with Flow Master Mufflers. The ignition is a MSD 6AL-2 ignition control which is programable to a certain extent. I have also installed an MSD Pro-Billet Distributor. There is a new alternator, new starter, and new windshield. The Tires on the vehicle are BF Goodrich on the rear's and Kumo Tires on the front. The tires are basically brand new and mounted on Weld Racing Rims. This Cougar has Front Disc Brakes and rear Drum Brakes. I custom CNC machined the dash board and it's finish is in Engine Turned which I did myself. All gauges are AutoMeter. There is a Pioneer CD sound system and 4 speakers.
History on the car:I bought this car from an owner in 2011 who lived in Arizona and had the car shipped here to my house in Illinois where it has been since I took delivery. Without a doubt I believe the mileage to be accurate based on the condition of this vehicle. I have done nothing to the paint and would consider it fairly to be an 8 out of 10. There are some scratches on the black hood scoop that need to be addressed. There is a small dent in the passenger side door. Again, this is a 50 year old vehicle that has been re-painted. Overall the condition is excellent and absolutely NO RUST HOLES WHATSOEVER. The Sequential tail lights work, but the pop up headlamp covers do not.
Like any 50 year old car it needs a few things to my satisfaction. This includes windshield wipers, some new window weather stripping, and the brakes gone thru as the pedal is soft in my opinion but still stops.
I unfortunately don't have time to work on this car or drive it around and figured it would be best to find a new home for it. I am happy to answer any questions you may have to the best of my ability so feel free to email me.
If you need help with Shipping I will do my best to accommodate you.
