It is hard to find these Mercury Convertibles as they are always in demand. It is even more rare to find any customized with taste and class. This car is not radically overdone, and could even be restored to original very easily with a flathead and tranny. The body is not altered from original at all and everything "fits pretty well". The doors close easily, the hood and trunk line up and function perfectly and ALL the trim is there.. Spare tire, Red top Boot, Full sized California car cover and side upholstery panel to cover battery is all shown and included in trunk. It is difficult to see the quality of the paint and interior in the pictures, as it was just about to rain that day. I will give full disclosure that this is about a 30+ year old restoration. It's a "5 footer". Meaning, it looks great from 5 feet away. If you are looking this car over with a magnifying glass, like a concours judge, then you will find issues. I would expect anything almost 70 years old to not be perfect. However, if you want a great looking, Complete, great driving Classic 1950 Mercury Convertible at a fair price, then bid away. The lacquer has a couple of small cracks in a couple of spots and you will notice a few chips here and there. The bright work chrome and stainless is in very good shape and complete, however, not "new". The same goes for the interior. I would consider it to be "8+ out of 10" compared to a newly restored show car. The seats and top have a couple of minor stains due to age and storage. Carpet and door sills are in good shape. Everything could benefit from a good cleaning and full detail job. The mileage shown is 17,033, the speedometer works, but the dash gauges are a little tempermental. Hey, have to leave something for the next guy.. But all the lights, signals and switches work. The working key to the glove box is even included. This is pretty much as close to you will find to a "restored barn find" there is. The car has been in the family for over 25 years, storage for more than half of that and never on the market until now. Loss of space is forcing sale. Car is currently registered and insured in Rhode Island and will be sold with all paperwork necessary to transfer to anywhere according to State of RI Antique vehicle laws. It is my suggestion to ask any questions first, or even better, come and view the car, as that option is available and also know that it is available for sale locally. Thank you for looking. Please email, or call Joe during reasonable hours if interested at 508-399-8873. Messages will be returned within 24 hours. No Reserve! Bid Today..
