Description

1949 Mercury"Lead Sled"
1949 Mercury "Lead Sled". Unmolested Old School build .... hard to find one like this anymore. Removable Carson hard-top convertible (very rare), Flathead V8 with Dual Carbs, Air Shocks with on-board compressor and dash switch, Tuck and Roll upholstery, Wide White Wall tires, Fender Skirts, "floated" Chrome Grille, Vented Hood, etc... This car is a true time capsule, the build was done in the early '70's and has always been stored indoors (rock solid, no rust). Great condition inside and out. This oldMerc always draws a crowd at the shows and has pulled off awards and recognition over Merc's worth twice the money .... not because it's perfect or is a "better" car, but because it's a time capsule / survivor that has been well preserved as well as maintaining it's Flathead V8 roots.
She runs and drives well and turns heads ofthe young and old alike. Peoplecan't resist asking for a photo with the car or even taking pictures of it while they drive past. The only recent new items on the car since the original build is a new battery and professionally installed new black carpet with new stainless door sills. I have loved and enjoyed this car for the 5 years that I have owned it. The car has a great history and was built and owned by a gentleman that has since passed away that was a member of a Salt Lake City based car club that dated back to the '50's. The car was sold by the original builder to a friend of his within the same car club who I purchased it from. I'd love to see the car go to someone who really appreciates this "era" of custom car building as I do.
Bid to win, Reserve is set very fair. I'll consider ending the auction early if you would like to make an offer that's good for both of us. I'm motivated to sellthe car but by no means am I desperate .... NOlowballers, if you know whatyou're looking at you pretty much know what it's worth.
Good Luck !!
Housekeeping:Please ask all questions, have funds in place, and permission (if needed) BEFORE bidding. It takes a lot of time and money to list on ebay and I don't want to waste my, or anyone elses, time. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I'm willing to help on my end to make sure all goes well with your transport at pick up time. Car is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. I'm not a dealer. I've described the vehicle as straight forwardly as I can. To serious bidders, if you want to see anything that isn't pictured I'm happy to take additional photos of what you'd like to see and email them to yo, just ask. I'm willing to discuss the car on the phone with serious buyers, simply email me your phone number and I will call you.
