1971 Mercury Cougar GT
Description
Up for auction is a 1971 Mercury Cougar GT. Clear title. Parts car or restore.I believe this to be a rare muscle car.Ford only built 787 GT Cougars in 1971. These GT's came with three types of motors, reference the pictures. Of these 787 production GT's how many are left that haven't been scrapped or parted out. This is an M engine code car meaning it is a factory 351C 4V V8. Only GT and 429CJ model 71 Cougars came with a factory hood scoop. You can buy all these parts aftermarket or off ebay. I bought this car from a young guy that didn't have any idea what he had before he sold parts off this Cougar. This car is missing the motor, transmission, bucket seats, console, hood scoop, front disc brakes and spindles, radiator and brake boosters. The floor pan is solid except for one small hole on the driver side next to the rocker. It has rust on the rear quarters some on the inside of the doors. The hood and the rear decklid are rust free. The front fenders are a little beat up and the right front looks to have been slightly hit. I do have replacement parts to fix the damaged parts. The front inner fenders have some rust thru but not too bad. The front frame sections look good. The car had a vinyl roof which I took off and the roof has some rust issues on top of the windshield area and on the left A pillar. The car has an AM radio but I do have an AM/FM radio to go with the car. The bumpers look fine but should be rechromed. The car does have dual exhaust. The car only has the one mirror on the driver door the passenger side is broken. I do have an extra grille and extra hood trim, new park light still in the box.The one picture is what this car is supposed to look like restored but with a hood scoop. THIS IS NOT THE CAR.Ask questions before bidding. I picked up a numbers matching 351CJ intake manifold that will go with the car.
