Description

1970 Mercury Cyclone, this is a base model that was ordered with a 429 Thunderjet and a close ratio 4-speed,PS, PDB, 3.50 rear gear. This car is believed to be a Ford Executive car that was ordered with a sun roof. The rear has been upgraded to a 3.50 posi, with an N case and staggered rear shocks. The hood was upgraded to a GT/Spoiler hood and has the ram air base plate. The rear deck spoiler was added by a previous owner. It is a true Cyclone spoiler deck spoiler with correct trunk brackets.
The engine was rebuilt several years ago and runs excellent. Additions include a new Holley Carburetor, aluminum high rise intake, cobra jet exhaust manifolds and cobra jet valve covers. The exhaust system is a new aluminized dual system withCalifornia mandated turn down tips. The fuel system is new from the gas tank to the carburetor. The suspension was totally rebuiltfront and rear. The brake system was rebuilt with new rotors, drums, brake pads, springs, calipers, master cylinder and stainless lines.
The car has had body work and re-paint many years ago. It does have some bubbling in the old body work and could use a re-paint. The floors are overall solid. The torque boxes and frame rails are solid. The trunk floor drop offs have a little rust. The seat support brackets had some rust patched. The trunk floors are solid.
The interior presents well. The dash has a crack. The speedo, gas gauge, tach, temp gauge, and amp gauge all work. The oil pressure gauge does not. The headliner needs replaced. It dropped down in the back. The carpet needs replaced. It was incorrectly installed years ago.
The car has a near perfect grill which is rare for Cyclones. The car runs, drives, and stops as it should. The transmission shifts smoothly. The engine is quiet and smooth and very strong. The car could be driven and enjoyed as is or could be driven and worked on over time. This is an N code car with a 429 Thunderjet. The aircleanersays cobra jet but that is just for looks.
