Description

1969 Mercury Marquis 2 Dr. Convertible Fully Restored Gorgeous Maroon 429 V-8 Motor

I am pleased to offer this beautifully restored 1969 Mercury Marquis convertible. This car benefitted from a complete frame on restoration which was done between 2014 and 2015 at a cost of $72,870. The work was done by a leading restoration shop in the Chicago area and they have hundreds of pictures and invoices to back up the work. If you’d like to see before and progress pictures, see link below.

This car was very special to the owner and he wanted to bring it back to it’s former glory AND he never had visions of selling the car. Unfortunately, the gentleman who owned and restored the car passed away and the car is being sold now by his widow. VIN # is 9Z65K586154 and mileage is 99,7XX +/- miles.

The attached Marti Report confirms many great things about the car (see last picture),

  • Car originally came with the 429 2V V-8 motor (it is #’s matching)
  • Car was originally painted maroon
  • Car came originally with the dark red vinyl interior
  • Convertible top was original white (as it is now)
  • Factory options include:

    – Trim variation

    – White power top w/glass backlite

    – 8.55X15 4 ply white wall tire

    – Rim blow-deluxe steering wheel

    – Power side windows

    – Power seat

    – Power front disc brakes

    – Power steering

    Restoration work included:

    – Rebuild 429 V-8 engine and transmission

    – New belts and hoses

    – Painted and detailed engine and engine bay

    – New exhaust system

    – New tires and brakes

    – Complete strip old paint and repaint entire body – as a result, car panels are laser straight and paint is beautiful (base coat, clear, wet sanded and buffed)

    – Bumpers and other brightwork re-plated including many delicate pieces

    – New sound system installed (approx. $2500) with remote

    – New carpet

    – Dash, doors panels and seats are original

    – All new weather seals and convertible top seals

    – Hand painted pin striping (true to factory specs)

    – New convertible top ($1800)

Car has been driven only approx. 100 shakedown miles since it was completed. Has been fully sorted etc. Car was in exceptional shape when the restoration began. This was a labor of love for the owner who commissioned this extensive restoration. A great opportunity to buy a complete car at a fraction of the true restoration cost. Sure you can find cheaper 1969 Mercury Marquis but they will not compare in condition and therefore will be a lot cheaper. If you are ready to step up to the best of the best, this is it!!

    Take advantage of proxy bidding:
